...do we show hate to G4 so much? It brought us SASUKE/Ninja Warrior to American Broadcasts, and even some obstacles to America. Hell if it hadn't been for them, Oti wouldn't have been able to try ANW because there would have been no ANW! If it hadn't been for them, I never would have been a fan, oh my god if it hadn't been for them, most of us wouldn't even be here.

Simple. We're appreciative that it brought most of us to Sasuke with Ninja Warrior. However, with the contrast in styles of presentation mixed in with the fact that G4 makes many decisions that are at the very least questionable in relation to the show, most of us can't help but be annoyed by many of their actions. Does the network deserve all of its flack? Debatable. Does the network deserve any at all? Certainly. Of course, people have more reasons to dislike G4 for more than just what they do with Sasuke/Ninja Warrior. Myself included, I've known about the network since virtually its inception. I've seen what the network was and what is has become. I've seen shows come and gone, I've seen shows take a drastic revamp. I just don't agree with it all. Some are a little overboard with their hate, but you can't fix that. Mine falls under annoyance more than anything. Hell, look at my username, there's still something there I like about the network, I just happen to come across more I don't lately. Of course, I don't speak for everyone nor can I, but this is just what I've noticed.

So, G4 is like a 50-50 thing? There's things we like, and things we hate about it? I just think we've been talking s*** about G4 so much that we should think about stuff it's done for us before we talk any other s*** about it, even if they've done typos or reversals (Rider says the SASUKE 8 ones were on purpose to hide the clock cause it was on the other side).

G4 has its ups and downs but they got the USA into Sasuke even if it was an accidental hit, and I swear we've talked about this topic multiple times in the past

I've wondered about this hate as well. Seriously folks, Twelve Timbers is not that stupid a name.

Oh I have serious hate.. lemme count the ways. a) They forced M9 to cut all foreign applications (yes I believe G4's involvement was a part of this) b) The edited G4 broadcast that G4 controls has been sold worldwide with epic translational errrors, outright fabrications, skewed views and even deletions that serve G4's purposes c) They introduced the concept of Japan VS America in such a way that pissed off more than half the community.. (don't even get me started on the grand prize for winning "ANW2" to pertain to Americans only when the REAL translation is Americans only winning Sasuke.. they even renamed the effing tournament to be "Finals of ANW2".. Seriously.. I spent the last week explaining to people who don't post here that NO THEY WERE NOT ALONE.... /facepalm) d) NW is no longer supported here in the US thanks to G4.. ANW is now bigger, worth more and given more credence than the original tournament. All of that is thanks to G4.

And yes chackpop this is a topic that has been brought up many times.. usually by new people who don't know/refuse to learn how to work the search button.

I wouldn't say I really hate G4 but they cause a lot of facepalms on my part.
a) Cutting Foreign applications
b) Cuts Americans from original broadcasts to make it seem they were there on their own
c) somehow got first airing rights to the Americans in Sasuke 26

There are a few that really piss me off though
a) G4's dismal production quality in general for NW
b) $250,000 prize for only American qualifiers
c) The boot camp

Although I understand the hate, if this was shown on ESPN 2 or something, it would be a different story. They wouldn't of given two shits about bringing americans over to Japan, or anything like that.

G4 boosted Sasuke and Ninja Warrior's name. More people know about Sasuke now than ever before. This was due in part to G4.

But G4 does have a horrific editing department, and they are kind of ruining Sasuke with the "American" rules that only apply to Americans.

Yeah thats my main issue with G4 actually. The editing just does not do Sasuke any justice at all. If you want an example just watch Yuuji's kanzenseiha in Sasuke 24. The commentary was so... just plain bad.

Yeah I was (and still am) very glad that G4 aired the show outside of Japan, even if the editing is much less well-done than it is by M9 and TBS. In fact, believe or not I actually thought the G4 broadcasts were pretty good until I finally saw the TBS broadcasts around the time Sasuke 23 aired in Japan. From there on I've realized how much worse the G4 episodes are than the original ones, and that's why I think a lot of people on here have so much hate against G4. And although I can say without a doubt that the effort in editing/translating/broadcasting/advertising/etc. Ninja Warrior on G4 is much lower in quality than it is compared to Sasuke on TBS, I still give G4 credit for introducing the show to an audience outside of the country where it originated from. However there will of course always be some things that many of us will be unhappy with that G4 does additionally with Sasuke (see previous posts above for specifics) as well as its other programs, but that's normal for most channels (probably more than most for G4, but you still get the point... ).

Its a stupid name because thats not the name... the name is Junidantobi, which doesn't even translate to anything resembling Twelve Timbers. At least with Go/Roku dantobi Quintuple/Sextuple steps was somewhat close.

When they do things like call Hang Climbing the Ascending Climb and the X Bridge the Bridge of Blades, thats annoying because they're just making stuff up as they go along.

I guess we think that because there's only 11 logs and the ending platform which isn't a log (besides the not even close thing).

The only real reason I hate G4 is because of the orders they run contestants . SASUKE 12's Second Stage, Yamada went third to last, but they showed him first because he failed first (courtesy of gloves leading to DQ). SASUKE 16, Shiratori went before Nagano in Stage 3, but they showed him last because he made it furthest. Shinji went first in Stage 3, but showed him last because he made it less further. SASUKE 23 and SASUKE 26, the ten Americans only. Nagano in 15 going last, but shown first because he was the only one to fail. Levi going first of the Americans in 25, but they showed him last because he made it to the Third Stage in 20 and 23. Any other ways you can think of that they did the contestant scramble.

I'm probably one of the most supportive of G4 on this forum and I'm still not fond of many of their decisions.

I'm extremely grateful they brought Sasuke here to America. Just that alone makes them pretty awesome in my eyes.

It's clear they don't make the best decisions, but I honestly think they try. About the control issue, I believe that spawns from G4 actually having something that works and not wanting to lose it.

I don't blame them one bit for capitalizing on ANW and turning it into the format it currently is in. If it works and makes them money and doesn't stray too far from the heart of Sasuke, I'm all for it.

I like the G4 names... well the Bridge of Blades in particular. 12 timbers? Yeah, don't know why the f*** they came up with that.

I don't understand why people get so butthurt over mirrored/reversed replays and obstacle names. Probably my biggest gripe(without conspiracies/suspicions) is only that the order of runs is jumbled, and the separation of ANW runs from the rest of the competitors.

But you can see the effort they're putting into this, and I find that I enjoy both Sasuke and NW the same, because it's that cool

When I first started watching Sasuke, I liked G4 a lot, showing all the competitions and such, and I also like having subtitles. HOWEVER, I stopped watching G4's Sasuke broadcasts after 20, and watching 26 a week in a half ago makes me glad I only stick to the Japan broadcast now. There's so much more stuff added to make it bring you into the show when you're watching the japanese broadcast compared to G4.

Overall, I still like watching the old competitions on G4, but anything after 20 can count me out.
