Note! This is spoilers on speculation of the full field... if you do not want to see this consider this your last warning! As of when Brian is attempting Stage 3, I only see 3 people in the background, on the far end it sort of looks like Yuuji but I can't really see... while Brian is running the person second to the end starts walking over to the start line and starts preparing, looks like it's Lee, As for the 3rd person I can't see him as he's behind the crew yet he seems to be sitting farther away, perhaps he already competed...
6 or 7 or maybe 8 total in Stage 3 counting everyone? Well I didn't see anyone in the background myself, but if someone is visible it doesn't mean anything and isn't a spoiler. Lots of competitors that failed stage 1 stick around to watch 2 and 3 at both Sasuke 22 and 26. Now if you saw someone drying off with a towel in the background that is a different story.

Oh and as for the 25 vs. 26 UCH. The 3-4 transition didn't feel any harder just because you had to reach up. I simply failed because I was tired. If it was the 25 version I'd probably have failed in the same spot.

I just wanted to say congrats to all of the Americans that made it as far as they did and I was impressed with how well they did as a team.
I really think that g4 has made some serious strides in picking the best qualified people to make it to Japan. Hopefully it continues to improve, maybe with some more upper body stuff being thrown in at the qualifiers, and we see our group do even better at the next (hopefully) Sasuke.
Also, I really enjoyed the whole production of ANW2. The boot camp could use some tweaking but ultimately I felt g4 sent a majority of athletes who had a legitiment shot at ultimate victory.
Anyway, I'm looking forward to ANW3 and plan on training my butt off seeing how amazing this group did and knowing that they're not going to give their spots up easily.

Darn you David! Why did you have to grab your hand!? LOL, I didn't grab my hand! I was doing the kongo cross and just slipped off before I could get my hand over. I just looked like I grabbed my hand, I was going for the rail. Yeah, I was noticing that you were determined to cross, you started moving your right hand closer to the end of the ledge instead of farther onto it, Do you think that if you had tried to do it more traditionally you would have made it? (Also, looked like you had a bit of reach left, enough to fit both hands onto the ledge, would have been a real stretch but it looked like you could have) I would assume that it's probably new policy as of 25, Considering in 24 they had that whole 5 finalists and had to give out a car thing... I was going to say ask Brian about 25 but he didn't make it to a rest platform so that wouldn't work.. The doorknobs were harder than I expected because of the way they twist, you have to grab them really high up and roll them so they lock. But I figured out a better technique to use next time. "underhand grip"! In 25 they looked like they were locked yet in 26 everyone was talking about them twisting and seemed to struggle with them.. Did you ask Brian if they turned in 25 and it's a modified obstacle or was everyone having trouble with it just for the inexperience?

Rider: I was planning on not crossing, but when I grabbed the 4th rail my grip was fading bad and I felt that if I get go with my left and my right would immediately slip. So I decided to cross as that would allow me to wrap my thumb around the end of the 4th rail for extra grip. But it was too little too late. In retrospect, if I had crossed from the beginning I could probably have made the gap and at least attempted the first jump. ....and well the landing platforms are thicker and not so demanding on the fingertips, so it's possible I could have cleared the whole thing......but not likely.

Yeah.. why do you think I always say "Nagano rule"? Most of that is because he used to wave them off and give them the evil glare while the producers are telling him to move his a**.. LOL He doesn't do that anymore really. I like the TBS broadcasts because you can see when the competitors are being reamed for taking too long between obstacles.. LOL

Going back to the Doorknob Grasper...
The Doorknob Grasper had to have been modified. No one had much trouble or made any deliberate movements to turn them into a "locked position" in 25. I think they fully intended to increase the difficulty but it was more unfair than anything. I already said this, but that obstacle combo is a huge mess. The Roulette Wheel is simply broken (even more so due to the drops- it almost became unhinged for one of the Americans) and the Doorknobs don't work either.
About David's suggested underhand grip technique, it would work only if the doorknobs turns in one direction. If they turn both ways, obviously it would be useless.

Underhand grip sounds like it'd do more harm than good if you did it on all of them... although I think it may be more useful... Right hand normal like the competitors do now, Left hand underhand so your main grip is on the inside making the second (and 4th if you use it but apparently isn't needed) doorknob less risky
BTW... It's called Roulette Cylinder, "Roulette Wheel" was just G4's name f*** up in 25.. And you're thinking of how Brent got it sideways right? Because if so it never looked to be in any risk of coming off the tracks, And I think he was trying to make it go down one side at a time, notice how he dragged it over the drops instead of rolling it like everyone else

I donno, this is probably my favorite obstacle combo. It's the most exciting, because people can fail here. It's reminiscent of Sasuke 1-17, where even the early obstacles were threatening. This is an exciting 3rd stage, disappointed they took out the floating boards though. Despite my complaints, I was sort of looking forward to it...

I'm really liking this stage. Every obstacle now has a chance to knock someone out, as it should be. So many people here were complaining that the first 3 obstacles were too easy. Well we got that, and as someone said already, the Third Stage has a lot more balance to it.

I do like the combo too. The Roulette Cylinder reminds me of the Rolling Dice. I do feel like the bike tires are a bit easier than the Floating Boards, but at least this way no obstacle requires the use of the legs (which I think might have been the point of removing the Floating Boards).

Ok, I'm trying to figure out the footwear for all of the competitors. It looked like Brian had some Vibram 5 toes, Travis had the New Balance 920's, it looked like a couple of people had some Reebok's of some sort, but what about David? I couldn't quite get a good look at the shoes.
Also did G4 provide you with stuff besides the shirts? At the airport it looked like they supplied you with duffle bags, did y'all get any other kind of cool free stuff? Subway for life?

La Sportiva Habenero trail running shoes. Great shoe. Discontinued. Yeah they gave us a bag of reebok gear, shorts and workout pants, jacket, hoodie, Zigtec shoes. That's about it, no subway.
Adam LaPlante was wearing the new version of the 5.10 Freerunner with a different rubber compound than the original. Brent had some Nike cross trainer type shoe or something.

I agree with Jfeathe, the cylinder looks broken, clunky and slows things down. The doorknob grasper i can live with because whilst it is very tricky we do want that.
The rumbling dice was a much better obsacle. However, we have't seen anyone but the Americans have a go so who knows, Yuuji and others may make the first two obstacles look easy.

I love the doorknob grasper, but the roullette cylinder could definitely use some modifying. It's very clunky, and I hate how it doesn't stop moving even if you're at the end.

but the roullette cylinder could definitely use some modifying. It's very clunky, and I hate how it doesn't stop moving even if you're at the end. In 25 there was a stopper on one side and at the end everyone had to roll it into it, it looks like they're still moving at the end but they're just getting it into the stopper. I don't know about 26 but it looked like it was present... If that was the case when people have to hand one hand on the cylinder after not being sure of their grip on the first doorknob it'd start rolling and as you can see it doesn't.. You can kind of see it here Could David confirm this is accurate even though I'm sure it is? EDIT: Although I'd still think it'd be more credible if someone who beat it confirmed this for me
