Wow, that's surprising. Not a great time for M9 run things. Thanks for the info.

Great.. As if we all weren't worried about the future of Sasuke as it is.. Well the Odaiba one wasn't exactly well kept as everyone here who's been there can confirm.. Although knowing the record it had and now it's closing down.. Does this mean we're obligated to say "Great going Slick..."

I know M9 isn't a big company but wow, 1 by 1 things are falling apart, I wonder if the economy got so bad they are going bankrupt?

What would happen to the future of Sasuke? Would that officially mean the end or would there be the chance it could go back to being by TBS like in the early days before M9 was formed?

Actually.. I'm kinda happy for a couple reasons.. the place has been severely run down. The prices are over the top and no one seems to be enjoying their stay there anymore. Outside of Chitose being "new".. it's better built for families to take their kids (which face it.. it's what pays the bills folks). Odaiba's Muscle Park has to fight with the rest of Odaiba's attractions.. and they have been losing the battle for a long time now. Even my friends who live in Tokyo all say the same thing.. they'd rather go elsewhere. Besides.. the rent is outrageous in Odaiba...
Still.. as Sheep said.. another domino though I'm not that upset about this one. I think they learned from Odaiba's Muscle Park and made it better with Chitose's. Plenty of people who have done the trip by car and by train (which is a long haul from Tokyo and points south) AAAAALL the way to Chitose in Hokkaido (the northernmost prefecture) have all said the same thing. It's worth the trip and they expect to go again. That's not what they say with Odaiba's. So in the end it's a better financial move to get rid of the weakest link.

I'd much rather see them close down all the dead weight (the website, Kunoichi, from what i just read, Odabia MP), and pour everything they got into Sasuke and if possible PS#1. If those 2 can be salvaged it'd be worth giving up all this other stuff.

What would happen to the future of Sasuke? Would that officially mean the end or would there be the chance it could go back to being by TBS like in the early days before M9 was formed? Honestly. I doubt this is the end of M9. Seriously. They have to rethink their TV business model but they are doing fantastic with Muscle Musical which you guys know by now IS the focus of Higuchi-san now for about 2 solid years. I would think the wake up call in terms of ratings for Sasuke might provoke change in how they approach things but I don't see M9 going down. They still have Sportsman (I don't even count Solomon since they get almost no ratings at all) and they have proven in the past they can (if they put their minds to it) actually make quality programming. They have to want it enough and Higuchi's thoughts elsewhere right now with MM might be causing the TV part to languish. ETA: Just put my blog up. As we find out more I'll update it. ramblingrican.blogspot.com/2010/09/muscle-park-odaiba-tokyo-to-close-on.html

This doesn't have to mean any great shakes for M9 - it's zero sum in the long run. Open a new park, close an old one.
The mobile site closing down wasn't a big loss since it wasn't up for very long. Whipping out random apps doesn't drive a company into the ground unless they are doing it constantly. Even if the official site died, it wouldn't have made much of a difference in the long run because again, it wasn't up all that long.
People only look for SASUKE stuff when they go to the M9 site but they are: doing a TV show, producing three stage shows (Las Vegas, Muscle Theater, tour of Japan), managing the careers of several of the MM members (not that they do anything outside of MM), plus who knows what else.
The Muscle Musical has been around in some version since 2005 and I think at some point it will slowly creep past SASUKE in fan recognition because it brings in people from all sorts of disciplines. If focusing on MM brings in the money to help them do other things, then that is what they should do.

Well hopefully with the Ginza event (however small it's expected to be) would be the start of "some" exposure for Sasuke. Granted they are hawking their Iphone ap but it's still "Sasuke" with 4 recognizable Sasuke related stars (yes yes.. I know they threw 2 MM people there but hey.. I'll take it). So even with Odaiba biting the dust in a month I finally FINALLY see M9 at least acknowledging the existence of Sasuke. That for me is great news considering how bleak it's been the past few months... Now.. if some news from 26 comes.. I'll be a very happy girl.

Don't hold your breath, but at least we had some good news. TBH I wouldn't mind if M9 backed out of SASUKE and another well-run company took over with a sound business model, some kind of planning and marketing, and a more exciting and perhaps new version of SASUKE. Then, maybe old and new fans will be drawn to it and it can make a comeback. Like I said before, it would be cool if a group of SASUKE competitors (former and/or current) took over and revitalized SASUKE- heck, even athletes and celebrities who have been involved could assist. Maybe trials could still be held in some fashion in Jpan, Taiwan, etc. as well. It would be sad to see the end to SASUKE. It is such a welcome relief to the crap you see in sports. Sportmanship, determination, camaraderie...you just don't get that anywhere else.

But isn't this Muscle Park a little side thing at the mall? And isn't the other Muscle Park it's own thing?

The one in Hokkaido is also attached to a mall.. If you don't really understand know how some malls have some big store or something in it? Well picture the same thing just with monster9 stuff

JP is right. Odaiba (Tokyo) was a small little park shoved inside of a mall building (think Chuck E Cheeses) while the new on in Hokkaido is a free standing building across the street from the large shopping mall.. if you read my blog and saw pics you'd know that

Well I know JP was right about Odaiba.. And I knew Chitose had it's own building but I thought that new building was attached to the mall (It's not unheard of)

K now you know And the more you know... Anywho now I'm catching up with the days activities in Japan. Blogs are all lamenting the loss in Tokyo and they plan to take advantage of the fire sale of clothing and stuff
