www.iza.ne.jp/news/newsarticle/entertainment/television/422553/Blogland kinda lit up today with word about ANW and TBS hawking it over there. It's a strange article on how they somehow think that G4's American Ninja Warrior is .. 2nd in the country for a certain age range.. obviously.. they are unaware that it's not nationwide.. that's within cable in a certain time frame.. but.. they are mentioning Ninja Warrior's popularity for all of Japan to see. They are also stating that G4 promises 100,000 people for ANW2 in Venice Beach..

Incomming google disaster: Blogland kinda lit up today with word about ANW and TBS hawking it over there. Let's just go with it.. If TBS thinks it's that popular here they'll try to keep it going just to make money selling it.. Let them think that! They are also stating that G4 promises 100,000 people for ANW2 in Venice Beach.. Well that calls for two things to be combined... vocaloid.wikia.com/wiki/Hatsune_Mikuand en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cutie_honey#Theme_songAnd I think we all know what THAT means...

If they sell it.. they can give up Sasuke in Japan.. you actually want that?
The other thing which amazes the hell out of me is how G4 managed to convince them of utter crap. They are saying that ANW was 2nd nationwide among 18-34 year olds.. EVERYONE knows that's not true at all.. internally in G4 yes.. in cable.. no .. network. HELL no. They didn't give them numbers or ratings.. they gave them percentages and demographics without actually giving them perspective as to where it came from. G4 was brilliant in convincing TBS about this. I swear they can sell them the Brooklyn bridge.

It's not saying that ANW is 2nd in the country, it's saying that it's 2nd among G4 (new) programming and tops on the channel amongst the 18 to 34 male demographic.

If they sell it.. they can give up Sasuke in Japan.. you actually want that? Hell no.. Because that's not what I mean.. I mean sell the FOOTAGE... Like they already do.... Pretty much let them think "Hmmm... Ninja Warrior is profitable.. Let's keep Sasuke alive as long as possible and make a fortune selling the video..." The other thing which amazes the hell out of me is how G4 managed to convince them of utter crap. They are saying that ANW was 2nd nationwide among 18-34 year olds.. I sure hope thats a google disaster and not what they really think, Rider better start making 9 and 10 now. Already on it... ifailedonsmf5.webs.com/g4fail9mp3.htm

Oh hell that's worse.. so did Hurl beat them? Because we are talking about G4 original programming.. what else did they produce in 2009? (Since ANW's numbers come from December, 2009). What makes the thing hysterical is that night 2 of ANW spiked because everyone and their mother turned it on expecting Sasuke 23 not knowing that G4 didn't have any plans to air it.. LOL Even so.. they didn't give them raw numbers.. all they did was percentages within their network for the one of maybe 2-3 new shows they produced all year.. and TBS is stoked with that. Oh boy. Hell if they wanted to really impress them.. G4 should have shown their Ninja Warrior numbers.. THOSE are substantially higher than anything on G4.. new or not.

They didn't even break a 1?? And TBS is singing? Wow.. the only thing I'm thinking if it's worth so much to sell ANW to G4 (exclusive rights/Sasuke license) then it's financially good for TBS to walk away with a check for the license and stop Sasuke in Japan since it will continue in ANW with G4 assuring them it's the best thing in their lineup.. 2nd best..

Think about it from a business Stand-point.. You have two options.. 1: Keep making a show and sell it to a bunch of TV-Stations for each tournament.. 2: Just hand over the rights to that franchise Granted this may just be wishful thinking BUT it is something to think about (for everyone.. I mean we know people from TBS keep an eye on this place..)

Well don't they only count those with Nielson boxes/devices in their homes? Or did they do away with that? I know it's G4 but my damn, who celebrates 0.26 and 0.29?

the percentage is ONLY within that demographic.. to Neil Stiles that's the only number that counts. Remember in the beginning.. women were outnumbering that demo during NW.. so they stopped airing it so much since that was not the demo they wanted.. so that number you are looking for is limited to males.. within 18-34.. not with the 64 million households that G4 apparently is in.. we don't know the exact number and the actual percentage is .. wow..
Also remember this is within network numbers they are looking at.. not cablewide or network wide.. this is all internal.

If TBS is trying a way to make money off a show that in Japan is just not selling.. why not sell it to a network willing to pay a lot for it because it's keeping the entire network from going under? Besides.. quite a few people in the G4 boards would watch a Sasuke-less ANW. I'm sure G4 is banking on that. As far as G4 is concerned they can make a lot of money on ANW with advertising and sponsorship alone. Where do you think they got the $250k for Sasuke 26 prize money? If TBS is done with Sasuke.. this makes financial sense to accept the numbers G4 is giving them. After all... if it's "THAT" popular then it's worth this amount for the license.

Is it necessarily that TBS is singing? It's just a random news release that states facts in a misleading way. It's like how they always proclaim that SASUKE/Ninja Warrior is a really popular show in America without giving any numbers. It plays on the idea that has been around for a while that if something makes it in the US it must be really successful. It's the same with movie stars and pro athletes.
This article is not a big thing. It's just business as usual, getting the SASUKE name out there to remind people that it still exists. A small blurb that is simply being repeated by other news aggregators. It's also a cheap way to advertise the show. It's not going to set the Japanese entertainment world ablaze.

But why would they hawk ANW and not Ninja Warrior in the USA? I'm thinking there is a method to their madness. If they wanted to show bigger numbers or more of a showing.. Ninja Warrior premieres top G4 ratings overall (in every demographic).. heck that would be bigger news for TBS to sing about. It's particularly intriguing that they are talking about ANW. Given how much of a niche market it is in the first place I never expected this article to be "huge". For us in Sasukeland it is since the focus seems to be diverted for a reason.

I mean we know people from TBS keep an eye on this place..) it is all up to TBS upper management, their business strategy. Sasuke is just 1 of it's many shows. Even JET decided to drop Sasuke even when it is clearly popular there. The official explanation given by JET was their strategy of changing from a importer of Japanese shows to broadcasting Taiwanese shows. Fingers crossed as TBS is probably still undecided...i hope?

The only reason they are "hawking" ANW is simply because it is happening while nothing else SASUKE related is going on right now. It was the same reason that this appeared last time: www.tbs.co.jp/eng/programsales/news/jp2009040410.htmlAfter today, any talk about ANW in Japan by TBS or in the news won't be around until the next SASUKE. It's just advertising. There is no deeper meaning to any of it.
