Usually around this time regarding the next Kunoichi tournament since it usually tapes mid-August... heck, around now we usually get that it's at least still on the air... Have we concluded that Kunoichi is/will be cancelled? Or do you think that there will be a Kunoichi 9, even if it's not until 2011?

I think that Kunoichi is done for now, at least until sasuke's ratings increase a bit. They were setting up wins in Kunoichi 8, which is never a good sign.

While I thought K8 was OK, unless it's for shiggles, I doubt there will be a K9. They haven't even officially announced 26, and we know that's happening. I still feel the need to post this:

Might sound weird, but I think there might be a chance. Just guts. But definitely not now, we'll have to wait at least six months or even a full year. Though - feel free to disagree- if they really do Kunoichi 9, it must be KUNOICHI, not that horrible mix thing they did with K8. I mean, the thing is supposed to look like Sasuke, not like Wipeout/whatever.

Yeah, sorry but Kunoichi 8 was BS in my opinion.
I never really liked Kunoichi so i could care less if they have Kunoichi 9.

If they do have K9, make it a sequel to K7, not K8. There is no way in HELL that they can keep that BS if they are going to keep it. They might make it a twice-a-year show so they can focus on things like PS#1, DOORS(which i'm wondering if they canceled), and SASUKE. But, who knows.

Fans seem to agree that K1-7 was better than the K8 format.
And ratings seems to think that way as well.

Well to me it seems for the most part that most of us are uneasy about Sasuke's future. Keeping this in mind, IMO Kunoichi's pretty much done if they're struggling to get good ratings for Sasuke alone. And if they would bring back Kunoichi, they'd better bring back the pre-K8 format or I probably won't even bother watching it anymore myself.

And the human interest show they have on TV Tokyo which isn't sports related. I really wish people would stop thinking that M9 is some huge company. It's not.
KUNOICHI never had a "set" schedule like SASUKE (which barely has one). Half of them have been in September, half in December. So it's tough to say exactly when it could be happening.
And unlike SASUKE, I doubt that there will ever be a formal announcement that KUNOICHI has been "canceled." (It's not really the best term for it since it's not a real ongoing series)

I think it's probably gone.. K8 seemed like a "Well.. Let's give this thing one last chance.. Let's completely re-do the format and if it bombs it's gone"

I don't really think it is, but I just assumed that it was bigger during the MuscleRanking-Banzuke days.

But wasn't Kinniku Banzuke a weekly prime time show? Wouldn't that earn more money than a few bi-annual shows?

There was one KUNOICHI each for Kinniku Banzuke and Taiiku Ookoku.
In retrospect, the 9.5 for the last show wasn't all that bad.

One other thing: DOORS may be on hiatus since once of the hosts (Takashi Okamura of Ninety-Nine) is currently taking a break from show business for health reasons. They could switch hosts but it's a branding thing, there are few comedy duos with the popularity and willingness to do something really physical like DOORS (remember, Okamura is the small guy who has gotten to the DOORS final stage several years in a row).

Ah! Thanks for that explanation and it quite frankly it makes sense. I've actually only seen DOORS once in it's entirety (2009 show I believe.. I'm losing track of tourneys.. all blending.. together.. ). I liked it. Hope it comes back after the host gets better.
