If Shunsuke starts competing regularly, he should do very well. I think Okuyama could get deep into the third stage, but first he has to get there. If Washimi gets past the first stage again I think he'd finally pass the Salmon Ladder and get to the third stage, but probably not get very far. I hope Lee Yen Chi keeps competing, but he's not the Japanese hero we're looking for.

I'm sure Nagasaki could make it deep into the third stage if he competes, if you've notices his proformances recently have been on par with Nagano, and if he trains to beat the new Cliffhanger he could easily get there, the Spider Flip doesn't seem like it'd be a threat to him considering that jumping is his specialty (If a Trampolinist isn't jumping there are bigger problems then doing good on a game show). Okuyama has a good chance of making it that far, he still holds the record of best time on the Salmon Ladder and there have been 8 real (I said real, not successful) attempts on it since then (Levi in 20, 7 in 21 (9 people in stage 2 in 21, Shiratori failed the Downhill Jump and Nakata has a wrist problem so its not exactly fair to count his run as he didn't even make it up a notch). Washimi if he can defeat the Salmon Ladder I can see him making it to at least the Devil Steps. Lee Enchi did pretty good defeating the obstacles although I don't think he really noticed how long he was taking, if he picks up the pace he can make it back to stage 3, And I think they're starting to look for more international heroes besides just japanese, after 20 they started calling Levi a hero and hes American.

Y'know, besides Nagasaki, I really don't think there's anyone we've seen recently that could possibly become a "new hero"...Washimi has major problems with the Salmon Ladder, and frankly, if he trained his a** for it before 19 and still failed, that says something. Okuyama, we haven't seen enough of, so I won't say anything about him, but rumor has it that he competed in 21, and if he was cut, well...that says something as well. I feel like Lee Enchi doesn't have enough upper body strength, and Levi...well, he's pretty good, but I don't know if he's good enough. And both Lee and Levi are foreigners; if you listen to the commentary you'll find how much emphasis the announcers (and by extension, TBS) puts on Japanese competitors...after all, basically the whole theme of 21 was Japan vs. everyone else.

If there is a 'hero' to save Sasuke and get attract more fans, then it would be Nagasaki. I think given his age and previous record in Sasuke, he would be the logical choice. But, as mentioned here before, he seems more determined to continue competing for trampoline events and not Sasuke events. Other than him, I haven't really sen anyone yet that would be this new hero that Japan is looking for.

I think another odd pattern I noticed is that in the competitions where Sasuke was won have taken place in the fall. However since it's only two winners I don't really know if its a pattern.
