What? First David now you with spoilers? We aren't going to have to move this to the 25 forum are we?...... But what a certain someone did before starting the obstacle clearly shows how cold it was.. And their result kind of backed it up..

Im in the boat with all the Shin-Cliff fans! Thats easily my favorite one and its probably not a coincedece that it was the one I saw first. That being saidits become the mst iconic to me and before I started training it was my idea of the obstacle to beat, the one that proved you had what it takes. The UCH looks so darn ugly as said before, They could have made that thing so much slimmer even with the same exact ledge placement. It is by far the hardest but they simply wanted it to look impossible at first glance, i like the UCH alot but kind of wish the redesign would have been alot different.
Now to join in on Ryder and David's discussion: David, none of your points are wrong by any means, but you do have to think of a few potential factors as to why they are owning their UCH replicas in Japan, A. preparation, thats the biggest advantage they have B. unlimited training time on it C. better conditions(not being freezing cold out, etc) Now I agree that their replica is easier than yours, and probably the shows, that much is simply fact looking at how they CAN reach their ledges and they are way smaller, but no one has made it that far on the show and for all we know theirs pretty accurate(though probably not). But the reason for the runs in Sasuke 25 being how they were was laxk of preparation above all else. I mean Lee is a pro rock climber, but look at past runs on the SCH, his hands dont grip rocks like they do the cliff so its not a HUGE huge advantage, he failed that SCH when others moved on. He wasn't prepared for it, didn;t know it was coming, and was a little beat before even trying it. I agree its not beaten until it really gets beaten, but I will be suprised if nobody does it in 26. Hey also take into consideration that with the size of them over there, they can get more finger room onto the ledges, add to that they weigh like 50 or 60lbs than some of the average americans training for Sasuke, and that is one very big advantage to boost their speed and ease of use of the obstacle.

This will ruin all challenger's hopes for competitions to come! ;D Well the same was said for the SCH and it was beaten. I'll be more surprised to see either no one beat it or more than one beat it so soon.

This will ruin all challenger's hopes for competitions to come! ;D It will definitely be a wall for the vast majority of competitors. There will probably only be a few at most that will clear it before the next total victory. I don't think we'll ever see a row of clears like in sasuke 24. And yes I think for the vast majority of competitors it will take the wind out of their sails destroying any hope of ever reaching the tower.

Snap, only a small elite few will ever make the final stage now. So, you mean to tell me after all this time, the 22 who reached the final after 2500 or so competitors haven't been considered an elite few? News to me. Don't mean to come off as dickish, but your comment didn't make sense to me.

Guys remember this isn't the 25 forum and you all are stepping very close to the spoiler line.

Lots of people got the sch down by the time of 23/24 everyone was making it look insanly easy, now though that will not happen - only a select few will manage to ever beat the latest cliff hanger to get a chance of reaching stage 4.

The nature of this topic in that it compares the versions of cliffhangers including the UCH makes it hard to discuss without spoilers, so maybe this should be moved the the 25 thread?
Realistically though, who on these forums hasn't seen 25 yet? And if someone who hasn't seen it reads this thead they're kinda asking for spolers since it's talking about an obstacle they've never seen.

Don't mean to come off as dickish, but your comment didn't make sense to me. MORE elite. Granted that many of the Japanese have the advantage of being very light and having small hands (compared to most americans). The level of training it's going to take to clear this obstacle, and be able to actually do it on the course isfar greater than anything ever put into Sasuke. Mainly it's an endurance thing. What I've found in my training is that I can doo all the parts of it individually, but to do it all at once I really have to push my grip training further than I ever have. (and when you consider that my grip is the biggest advantage I have over everyone else at ANW already, how is anyone but an elite level rock climber going to have a chance at it?) The old Cliffhanger was easy once I figured out the technique. This one, I have figured out the technique and it's still hard....just becaue it's so long and you waste everything right in the beginning. Though I suppose the one I'm practicing on does have extra skinny rails which makes a difference....but STILL. My predictian is that we'll see a lot of people fall about 1/2 way though (before the jump). A couple of those uncli guys might do it though? ...me and Travis are currently woking on it too. We'll see.

(BTW David spoiler tags allow us to talk about 25 in the General Sasuke thread ) David, keep in mind that there are 3 more obstacles before the UCH in Stage 3, so even once you're able to beat UCH pretty often, you're going to still have to have a good amount of strength and stamina left for the other obstacles there as well if you want to have a shot at clearing Stage 3.
Just look at the 4 who made it to the UCH in 25. I'd assume that most (if not all) of them could have gone at least somewhat farther on the UCH if it weren't for the Roulette Cylinder, Doorknob Grasper, and the Floating Boards beforehand, with the last one of these 3 requiring about a minute or so to complete (and as a result a good chunk of stamina like the UCH, and although probably not as much as the UCH would take out of you, it definitely still drains a ton of your stamina which you need for the UCH and will therefore make it even more difficult than just having that obstacle to do). Hell, I wouldn't have even been surprised to see Koji or Li get at least halfway through it if it weren't for these 3 obstacles (especially the Floating Boards) and having to start the UCH within about 30-40 seconds afterwards. At that point, I'd think that even Yuuji would've began to start getting a little tired if he got that far in 25 (don't get me wrong though, I would've been more shocked to see him fail there than beat it, but what I'm trying to say is that even the UNCLI guys would've had some difficulty beating the UCH once they got there due to the stamina they lost on the previous obstacles and stages, and I would have expected at least a few of them to fail by the end of Stage 3, though only time will tell whether or not this is true...). So basically, even if you're able to successfully do the UCH most of the time that you try it, it won't help you that much on Stage 3 unless you start there with that much strength and stamina left, which isn't going to happen unless you keep on practicing it.
IIRC, wasn't there a video that you made of Levi doing the SCH and then other stuff like the Salmon Ladder and rope climbing one after another like on Stage 3 (i.e. about 30-40 seconds to rest between obstacles) before doing the SCH again right away afterwards to prove that Levi had the endurance to beat it? Maybe you could do the same to prepare for the UCH in 26 if you're still unsure as to how much stamina you'd have left by the time you reach it in 26! I'm not trying to coach you or anything, but it's just a recommendation that is your choice to do or not do if you want. Either way, I'm rooting for you to destroy ANW2 and Sasuke 26's course as well! ;D

Well it terms of stamina, Lee (I call him this over Li because we still don't know which is the correct one -- plus I'm conservative with SOME things ) did the best in terms of getting there quicker as few would argue he did what is essential to having a shot at beating the UCH: "Don't dillydally and get through the first three". He likely was the freshest of all four of them getting there, but was still tired to some extent as he and Kouji didn't reach the third ledge which I feel if they weren't desperate and had clearer heads, probably would have waited to reach the end of the second THEN try the gap. So what I'm saying is to have a chance, you not only need strength and stamina but speed as well to get through the first three, otherwise you'll turn into Okuyama and barely get on the thing.

Yama: Yes I am well aware of everything you said. We're building a full stage 3 for this purpose, but right now I'm just working on trying to get it in the first place. I'm making progress but I just pulled my shoulder out again today...it's not nearly as bad as the first time, but I'm just hoping it doesn't slow my training too much.
Anyway speaking of uncli guys on the UCH in comparison to Lee Yen Chi and them, I heard a story that I don't think I've told anyone yet? So at the beginning of stage 3 when you are there as a competitor, they have testers run through each obstacle, and they have a different tester demonstrate each obstacle so they are fresh. However this time the tester they had to demonstrate the UCH couldn't do it, so they got a different tester and another, NONE of the testers could clear it or even come close it sounds like. So finally since Yuuji failed way before that they asked him if he would try to demonstrate it for them as a tester....and he just flat out said no! But he suggested uncli#2 do it since he is the f**king cliffhanger master. So HE tried it fresh and still failed. Finally they just said "eh screw it" basically, called it good and started stage 3. To me is just seems like cheating (on the part of the course designers) to put an obstacle on the course that NOBODY can even try to demonstrate after multiple tries fresh. Like how do they even know it's physically possible if they can't test it? [\spoiler]

Was it by someone there who you won't mention just to be safe but we all know (And is also an (inactive) member). 2: We knew about the testers and how they all have different ones since they showed off all of Stage 3 before 24 in what was supposed to be the "Sasuke History Special" but it seemed more like a half hour Navi of what the Sasuke Maniacs wanted 3: Going to the commercial break before Hashimoto Kouji started stage 1 they showed an UCH tester failing 3 -> 4 4: The real question we're all wondering is how would Yuuji have done on it? (We'll probably find out in 26) 5: Looks like Ryo can beat it now... (5a: Damn it.. I had that idea of the jump to the 5th ledge and immediately jump to the 6th but never mentioned it because people would probably call it stupid despite successfully testing it and now since the UNCLI guys have done it it's too late to copyright it XD) 6: That's probably why they showed the testers attempting the last 3 obstacles of Stage 3 at the end of 25, they didn't think anyone would even get to those.. Honestly I think someone will reach them soon
