This one made me sad. Sir Ian Holm, 88.Among many other roles, he played Bilbo Baggins in the Lord of the Rings movies, as well as Ash in the first Alien. ETA: Cause of death was apparently complications of Parkinson's disease.

And now a second one. Joel Schumacher, 80, cancer.He was the director of "The Lost Boys", along with "Batman Forever", "Batman and Robin", and the 2004 "Phantom of the Opera".

Twofer here, and both of them made me quite sad. Regis Philbin, 88, natural causes.and Peter Green, 73.The former was a talk show host, as well as the original host of "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire". The latter was a co-founder of Fleetwood Mac, the band responsible for songs like "Landslide" and "Go Your Own Way".

Gonna miss Regis quite a bit, as Millionaire is still one of my all time favorite game shows and inspired me to host an Anime version of it at various conventions over the last decade. R.I.P.

John Saxon, 83, pneumonia.Olivia de Havilland, 104, natural causes.John Saxon was an actor, best known for either Enter the Dragon, where he played a villain, or the Nightmare on Elm Street series, where he made multiple appearances as Donald Thompson, the father of the main character in the first movie. Olivia de Havilland was an actress, playing Melanie in the 1939 classic Gone With the Wind as well as winning Academy Awards for her appearances in To Each His Own. She also made waves behind the scenes, winning a lawsuit that prevented studios from adding suspensions onto the end of expiring contracts in order to lengthen them.

Oh, man...this is heartbreaking. Chadwick Boseman, 43, rectal cancer. He was an actor, most famous for playing Black Panther in the Marvel movies, as well as Jackie Robinson and James Brown in previous movies.

Michael Lonsdale, 89 and Ron Cobb, 83, Lewy Body dementia complications.Lonsdale was an actor, primarily known as the villain Hugo Drax in the James Bond movie Moonraker, while Ron Cobb was a prop and set designer, with some of his more notable works being the Nostromo in Alien and the DeLorean in the Back to the Future movies.

Well, 2020 has claimed another, and this is a big one. Eddie Van Halen, 65, throat cancer.He was the guitarist for the band Van Halen, popular for songs such as "Hot for Teacher", "Ain't Talking 'Bout Love", "Panama"...I could just go on for ages.
