Got an email from M9 today (regarding the DVD petition so I'll do a post on it later and update the thread in the General forum) and the first thing they mentioned was that Sasuke is NOT canceled. I'm thrilled to hear that so we have official confirmation from the source that Sasuke 26 is being planned. Extrapolating from the news we heard from Ryo I would put it around September'ish back in the 6 month cycle. ANW2 will be directly attached to obviously so that helps out that cause and eases the stress that us who thought it was canceled. Phew.. best news all day

And since when did we think that it was going to be canceled?
I know it had low ratings, but come on. Mao Asada.
I was actually surprised that 7.5% (was it?) of Japan watched SASUKE at all.

Sasuke was last in the ratings.. Friggin Pirates of the Carribean movie beat it along with 3-4 other shows.. Mao's win was a forgone conclusion.. to lose in double digits to other shows was not..

That wasn't an indication of a cancellation to me either, simply an indication that they will push for higher rating next time. I would only be worried if ratings like that repeated several times despite attempts to raise them.

Great. Now I don't need to fear that 25 is my 2nd and last live Sasuke.

Me neither, but reading these threads and posts makes me fear that, from the sounds of it, Sasuke is indeed on its last legs. I mean, we (for the most part) thought that in 24, but now it seems to be more apparent, especially from the ratings side of it.

You scared the hell out of me seeing this from the front page.. it cut off the "T cancelled" XD
But this is great news. We better hope 26 kills in the ratings (or at least does decent), the 7 rating didn't scare me for 26 but I'm scared as hell for 27..

If 26 gets bad ratings, they will try one more time to get it up. But if 27 has bad ratings too, its over

Thank goodness. Sasuke being canceled would be awful.
I'm really happy it isn't being canceled. I'd miss the sleepless nights watching Sasuke live and cheering on for my favorite competitors.
I hope it atleast goes on to Sasuke 30.

I knew they wouldn't cancel it, simply because they were (somewhat) close to 10%. Now if it was 5% or under THEN I would be worried, but since it's not, no need to. I blame having having 23, 24, and 25 so close to each other -- us hardcore fans wouldn't mind it, but the casual fan gets tired seeing so much of something in a short period of time. Everything is being tailored to the causal fan at this point. In order to be successful strictly catering to your little faithful, you have to have guts and a hell of a selling point.
Forgot about the advertising lockdown for 25 as well, that was an (direct imo) influence on the rating.

Hopefully Sasuke 26 will introduce clever new obstacles, more funny comedians, and celebrities. Hopefully M9 learned there lesson.

In terms of the good competitor to celeb/comedians to unknowns ratio, I think SASUKE 23 was perfect imo. I hope they go back to a balance like that. SASUKE 24 had way too many comedians to the point that results-wise, it was WORSE than SASUKE 19 for most of that First Stage. SASUKE 25 lacked freshness and had way too many no-name competitors, a lot of whom just died on the first obstacle.
I hope SASUKE 25's course was just like that to give competitors a shot at the course's bread and butter, which was the Third Stage, and that a good amount of changes are made for 26. I also hope that the competitors aren't lulled into this false illusion that the Final Stage isn't too far away, and we end up with another SASUKE 19.

i liked the whole Prefecture thing, but it was overblown...there was only a few major comedians(and we don't know how popular Dandy is...so...yeah)

Well this is a relief to hear, all this talk of it being canceled because of 25's ratings also made me a bit concerned but I'm glad the fire is still alive.

Yeah I think the board was evenly split on the "zomg it's cancelled". Given that perfectly good shows with better ratings were cancelled in the past due to just being old I had legitimate worries. If 26 gets bad ratings, they will try one more time to get it up. But if 27 has bad ratings too, its over This is still my take on it honestly. I do think they learned their lesson honestly and will do do changes to get back to respectable ratings. The number itself was bad but the fact that they didn't beat anyone .. at all.. that weekend let alone that night was horrible. I do hope they lift the zomg doing post anything or your first born child will be sacrificed ban.. LOL Btw.. I did post on the DVD thing Almost immediately after I posted this. It's on the General forums. sasukemaniac.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=general&action=display&thread=862&page=7Either way I'm very happy they said something. Usually if they bother telling me something it's to help quiet down the overseas markets since they know I post everything they send me.. They must have had a lot of emails and whatnot from everyone else to warrant saying something.
