On Sasuke, it appears that some male competitors tend to wear shirts every time they compete, which seems more appropriate and dignified IMO. On the other hand, other competitors almost never (if ever) wear a shirt, which appears more as a sign of "showing off" in some conditions. Still other wear shirts sometimes but don't do so in others. This all brings me to my question: If you were a competitor on Sasuke, would you wear a shirt or not? "Yes", "No", or "I don't know"? I'm just curious as to everyone's take on this seemingly minor idea.
BTW, this doesn't really apply to female competitors...I hope. Nevertheless, you girls on the forum can still vote when hypothetically speaking (i.e. IF you were a guy).
EDIT: Cool! I'm now Shingo Yamamoto! ;D

I would wear a shirt. Although I personally don't find it disrespectful if your Japanese, or a long time competitor, but coming from America, and being your first time on the show, I'd go with a shirt.

It depends on how it would affect my mindset.
When I go climbing, I can't stand wearing one. I don't know why... I mean, chances are you've seen my videos and I don't have one. Same when I am at the gymnastics places.
And I'm not "showing off" or all that attractive, but its just a mind thing. If I'm wearing one, my mind is concentrating on me wearing it. If I'm not wearing one, it helps me concentrate on the task at hand. I usually even forget I'm not wearing one.
Now however, I agree. Yes, I think it would be polite to wear one my first time, but if I'm nervous enough, I'd probably take it off just to help clear my mind. Although I may cause some people to throw up inside, I'm there to beat the stage, not win a beauty pageant.

While I'm not fat by any means, I'd be more comfortable in a shirt. I'm also used to doing most physical activity in a shirt. Therefore, it would actually be a distraction to go shirtless.

I don't think the Japanese would care either way. As long as you're not being a jerk about it, I don't imagine it would be an issue. Oddly enough, I HAVE thought about this. It depends on the conditions, I guess. If it's cold, I want a shirt. Maybe even a coat. For the heat, though, I may just be shirtless. I'll let my mood decide. I saw your recent gymnastic-place video. You're nowhere NEAR that bad. You just need a little more muscle and a little less fat. Easy to achieve.

Girls don't have to wear shirts.... Rie Komiya anyone? If it were me, I'd wear a shirt on stage 1 unless it was above 80 degrees. I'd probably take it off on stages 2 and 3 unless it was below 40. And I'd wear it on the final no matter what (ROPE BURNS) The reason I'd take it off if it were over 80 is because I get heat exhaustion, BAD. For whatever reason when I work out the heat drains from my toes and fingers and goes straight to my head at a really fast rate, and it can be dangerous if it's really hot and I'm doing intense workouts. So I'd definitely need to take my shirt off for stage 3, unless like I said if it's below 40. A, because it'd be really cold and B, because it wouldn't be needed.

Haha. Maybe for girls it can be a matter of a normal shirt or one of those fancy little sports things like Rie Komiya wears? EDIT: ...Yeah. What Bada said.

I edited it. Sports bras as just the top, though? That may not be the best idea.

Yeah, but that's what Komiya wears right? Works fine for her.

I'd definitely wear a shirt, don't want people teasing me about how skinny I am.

Is it a sports bra? I thought it was just some little athletic top. They look practically the same.

I'd most likely wear what I usually wear while training: a plain white t-shirt, track pants, ankle socks, and very grippy shoes for when I get to Sasuke. So, yes I'd wear a shirt. Plus, I'm pretty self-conscious so I don't like to take my shirt off often. Not to mention my ghostly-white Irish skin .

I thougt sports bras came up a little higher. Rie's is a little lower I think.
The closest woman to being topless on Sasuke would have to be the "Samba Girl" from Kunoichi. She was prtty much bottomless as well.
