I'm sure the shoes helped, to say they didn't help at all is a bit stretching it. Though he still probably would've won no matter what shoes he was wearing since he had a pretty good amount of time left, but they definitely helped him.
However, it's fair game. Never (at least to my knowledge) has M9 complained about shoes. Though I find it interesting there are also some japanese people that weren't happy with Yuuji's win.
Personally I'm not happy there was a winner, but I am happy for Yuuji and I wouldn't find some BS excuse to say he cheated. I think they are just digging to the bottom of the barrel on this one. You can be upset that somebody won, but don't accuse him of cheating because of his shoes. That's definitely stretching it.

We've established that the jealous people who pointed toward the boots are spouting Bull *boop* but what I was thinking is that Yuuji would have Kanzenseiha because no boots would not have cost him 3.5 seconds.

@venus: Isn't it technically 8.5 seconds? Correct me if Im wrong, but I thought in Sasuke 22 the time limit on the final stage was 45 seconds, but in Sasuke 24 it wasa 40 second limit? If im right then he would have won with 8.5 seconds under the original time limit. He clearly trained hard but that much time left over would be alot, there would be no doubt that those boots do help. But as previously said it doesn't matter if the boots help, they were allowed in.

That changes nothing about my point, which is time wise Yuuji was guaranteed Kanzenseiha by his speed, boots or no boots. His ladder climb was about that fast in the previous final stage visit as well.

I was just asking if I was correct or not. The thing I do not agree with is your statement on boots or no boots not being able to affect 3.5 seconds is that yes they can. Its a far climb roughly 75 ft, and the wrong equipment, in this case boots, can definitely slow someone 3.5 seconds or more. That is not much time at all, one mistake can cost that much time at least let alone if a different pair of shoes weren't as grippy. If he won by like 8 seconds I would agree with you but 3.5 is cutting it fairly close.

I'm sure the shoes helped, but they weren't against the rules so it's whatever.
It's like... why on earth would you not wear shoes with good traction? I would make sure to have the best traction for stage 1 especially because of the jumping spider, and they give you tons of sasuke spray anyway.

Exactly, I would do the same thing, personally I think it is nothing less than bad strategizing if you don't wear the proper footwear so if someone is wearing the wrong shoes too bad for them.

Well.. I can't tell if it's just the translation disaster but anyone else think they're really over-reacting?

Thanks to David who helped me out via email a couple days ago this is his translation:
I think at this point TBS is going to milk it for what it's worth. They must have gotten a lot of emails and whatnot to warrant writing this.

Well now it means more reason than we already had not to trust google's translations.. Maybe it's just me or it looked like Google was saying TBS was against him too

Maybe it's just me or it looked like Google was saying TBS was against him too Google has been sucking.. which is why I'm relying on human translation whenever I can get it! Though I think TBS is just mentioning that somehow he's lost his honor.. and they are bringing attention to it.. I don't think TBS cares.. they love a story any way they can get it.

Regain lost honour? ROFL
*bangs head against wall*
Side note: 'the guy who shouted "that's impossible" to those obstacles will end up passing them...'
That's not a spoiler, is it? Or is it a question rather than a statement?

This is TBS speak for "please watch".. LOL It's anyone's guess at this point P.S. TBS has always been about creating drama where there is none Though the fact that they are perfectly happy in tearing down Yuuji is enough to irk me..

Well, I wouldn't have brought it up if TBS hadn't brought it up first in the magazines. I knew about it but didn't think TBS would mention it.

Well, I wouldn't have brought it up if TBS hadn't brought it up first in the magazines. I knew about it but didn't think TBS would mention it. The fact it hit magazines and such in the promotion to Sasuke 25 was disturbing. Again.. it must have been brought up a lot for TBS to continue to post this stuff. Then again.. the promotion for Sasuke 25 is handled by TBS/M9 so they provided them with the information to begin with. Had you not posted what you found in magazines/TV Guide I would have thought that Yuuji would have been front and center of Sasuke 25 as the new champion.. now it's all about regaining his honor.. as if he did something wrong.. TBS/M9 could have done something to stop the rumors by saying he did not break any rules.. but instead they are using this as fuel to the fire.

You knw, I was just getti excited about the new trailer and thennew course and obstacles look great. Then...we have to deal with this ludicrous story of Yuuji's boots. FFS will wonders never cease?
I say Yuuji should milk this for all its worth. Maybe he can become a celebrity in Japan and do a "must be the boots" ad sort of like Michael Jordan did back in the day. So much irony being a shoe salesman. Unbelievable...

Someone... please... explain to me why Tabi boots make such a friggin big deal? I don't get it.
Do they give some sort of huge advantage I just don't understand?
I mean, I don't care what rules say. He won, and he deserved it. Regardless of if the shoes were full of pixie dust or Michael Jordan's sweat.
I don't see them giving any advantage on the rope ladder climb, at least none more than any other shoe: How they don't kill your foot. And I don't see them giving any advantage climbing the rope... that's pure upper body.
Unless someone can describe why this is a big deal, it sounds to me someone was just jealous Yuuji did awesomely well.

It shouldnt be a big deal. There is NO rule about having boots on for the final.
Actually, IMO the boots made it harder. Id rather wear sneakers.

Since when have there ever been any restrictions on footwear? (Unless they have studs/anti-gravity/super-friction/rocket boosters) So really, the way I see it they're giving him stick either for using his head (although they never stop people wearing clothes that give them an advantage), or for his fashion sense (haven't we had transvestites/people impersonating Obama/ Miss Japans on SASUKE in the past?). I mean, if I went to compete in skinny jeans, should I be disqualified? Absolutely ridiculous.
