I'm doing my best to not post linking sites and what not during my searches for fear that any posting that has been done in the past usually comes with retaliation from TBS against them. So let's say that there is a rumor in blogland that Japanese Sasuke Trials is possibly next week - February 14th. (if you find it yourself in searches please be merciful and don't post it at all)
Given that we already know Lee is going back to Japan on the 20th for an unspecified taping (could be a fluff piece for all we know) that was posted on his site and even broadcast on Taiwan TV, we could actually perceive that they could actually tape Sasuke 25 that Monday (2 weeks from now) (if they follow historic taping dates for the past 2-3 years). Which means actual airing could be early March/mid March.
Implications are huge obviously for those waiting on ANW2 for Sasuke 25 IF and that is a big IF the time line is as it seems at this moment. If the timeline is as it is.. and G4 has said nothing about ANW and its' taping in 2 weeks.. it's almost a foregone conclusion that ANW2 will not be for the spring competition. Confirmation will be very hard to come by and as more and more people blog and TBS tightens their grip on NDA's it makes it difficult to verify. Given that the announcement that ANW2 will be aired late Fall then it actually makes sense given this timeline that they are referring to Sasuke 26.
Again it's speculation but with the 2 dates in question and the fact that in the colder months trials and Sasuke taping are no more than 2 weeks apart sometimes... it seems very likely that it's going to be earlier than we originally anticipated. At the very least it's late February and possibly early March if Lee is in fact coming in only for a fluff piece.

But doesn't it seem odd that TBS hasn't announced the Sasuke Trials officially, when they're only a week away?
I mean... did TBS ever officially announce any of the past Sasuke Trials, or were they usually as hush-hush as this? It just seems odd no official news has come yet.
Forever the hopeful that the date is pushed back enough for G4 to jump in and take action...

G4 announced that ANW would be renewed in the fall. They have no plans to attempt one for spring.

They announce for people to send in applications, but actual dates of the trials usually comes in from people who got selected and are blogging about it.

G4 announced that ANW would be renewed in the fall. They have no plans to attempt one for spring. No, I think they just are describing that that's when they're planning on airing it. They can record something whenever they want... it's just their choice on when they want to air it. And that's what matters most to them and others who ask about it. Not like us, who are interested in the actual tryouts/recordings. No, M9 and TBS usually don't announce the Trials. They announce for people to send in applications, but actual dates of the trials usually comes in from people who got selected and are blogging about it. Interesting. Thats odd that TBS wouldn't make a bigger to-do about it. But, I guess that's how it is!

Taping is probably on the 22nd if these dates are accurate, which would give us a mid march airdate, which is in line with what is typical.

Taping dates are huge "hush hush" because they reserve the right to change them at the last minute AND they can control leaks better that way. Trials are also top secret and have been from the beginning. Only recently have we been able to find out what dates they are .. usually by someone blogging or what I like calling the "calm silence". You can tell when certain people stop blogging completely (you can guess who) and then when airtime hits they all start talking again Again this is speculation given the 2 dates I heard so let's see what happens. I'll be watching Lee's site to see and read more to see if anyone else says anything. Should be pretty quiet from here on out. Once I start reading confirmations I'll start posting those.

Taping date for the one I was at last year was on a Monday and it was March 16th. So if they stick to that, we'd have over 5 weeks still. It doesn't make sence that they would be having trials without announcing a submission for said trials. I wouldn't take this one too seriously.

Er.. the announcement for Trials is the application. Never have they mentioned the dates for trials (btw there are now 4 different confirmations on that date being correct - that's next Sunday) and I don't see why they would do it now. All of UNCLI, all of the normal blogs that are heavily followed and the UNCLI board that #4 runs is now running on silent until Sasuke so I take that as confirmation in addition to the other stuff. Trials is definite for next week.
As for Sasuke. A few places confirmed the late February date. The only thing not final is the airdate right now. M9 might be putting that up soon since the taping date is now final.

It's easy to find if you know what you are looking for. Others have found it just as easily just time consuming having to sift through dancing pics, naruto, soft porn, cats and fishing lures.. LOL Besides it kinda defeats the purpose since what I'm trying to not do is bring attention to the individual posts The only thing they have are the dates for Trials and "wish me luck".

That's what I said "submission for said trials" that's the same as an application. I just looked back at the Sasuke 25 announcement, I didn't notice that they put a call for submissions in it. Still though, if they are having Sasuke in mid March as they did last year this would be a good time to have trials. Just have to wait and see...maybe G4 will just send Levi, Brian and Rich again?

A mention of trials in 25? That's great because I didn't hear anything about trials from 24.

Given that my blog concentrated on the "no foreigner" clause without going through your TV station it might have seemed as if they didn't ask for it but they did. They always keep it up on their site so it's always available. I guess because those who follow it in Japan have already a system they are used to it's not as clear to us here in the USA how they work? In the past they get cards and such in the mail telling them when to be ready but lately they have been calling people (only those chosen are notified) As for ANW I really thought they would have done it given that they said they didn't have time for 24 but get ready for 25.. I think because of the addition of new sponsors (or at least the wanting of new ones..) they delayed everything to try to get that in place for ANW2.. despite the fact that the show they are SUPPOSED to be promoting (bangsheadonwall) is already in production for another season.. That's my guess as to why they didn't do ANW. I agree with the thinking of sending Levi, Brian O. and Rich. I have no confirmations on either and I doubt I ever will but it seems logical to me since they originally invited those three for 24 but prior commitments kept them from being able to go. Logically it would make sense that G4 would use that as a back up given that they were not ready for another ANW. I'm sure they knew when Sasuke 25 was going to tape. Heck.. a new network in Taiwan with no prior experience knows and they got their crap together already.. it's just G4 being G4.

And this new network in Taiwan had never previously shown SASUKE or any other Japanese-related 'game shows' before. They saw the demand and the opportunity and jumped on it! And to think they are paying something like $1m US per episode!
