We know that he failed the Flying Chute in Sasuke 21. He also had a pretty reasonable amount of time.
What if he had caught the net and cleared the First Stage with time to spare?
How would he have done? Would he have reached the Final Stage?

EVERYONE failed the cliff-hanger, including Nagano and Takeda. But yet they all laughed at eachother. That's why it was such a big deal when yuuji and Keita beat it, ebcause none of the all-stars could. It wasn't just the cliff-hanger it was an entire mini course, and keit and yuuji has the top 2 times. However Yuuji beat Keita by like 1 second so he had the fastest time and was given a spot on Sasuke 21.

thanks...wow 2008...that was like history ( both the show & your blog ) ;D Ninja Warrior ( along with Nagano's total victory ) was 1st aired in mid 2009 ( forgot the exact month ). I saw it just by chance when i was just randomly clicking on the remote control. Missed the early episodes. After the total victory, the show ended ( 2 1/2 years ? after sasuke 17 ) So when you talk about Yuuji's "long rise to fame" & Takeda's younger son having grown so tall, it is funny cause all this is just in months for me. One moment, Takeda's son is a toddler & the next he is a jumping bunny.

USA people who have been following it since 2007 (me included) are starting to just now feel the change that the Japan people have felt all along. Those who just are catching up forget that the show is 13 years old.. since they don't get the lag between tourneys. Yuuji's been at this for years.. Keita Tomino is entering his 8th year in trying to get on the show.. so that's the perspective people who just started watching are missing.. so inevitably they think they are all "new". I wish we had a DVD with all the Sasuke Trials and Sasuke Maniac episodes that had all the extra footage. I think people will be surprised how long some of these contestant really have spent trying to get on the show.. even Washimi.. he's a former STQ'er.. so he understand the harshness of not making the show beforehand and waiting in line so to speak.
Oh btw as for Takeda.. to give an example.. the first time he was on Sasuke.. it showed his wife jumping around while she was 8 months pregnant.. with his FIRST son Reiya.. The jumping bunny (lol that's cute) is his second son Reio.. and I can't believe he's already 4 years old..

"Grinding" Ring, like Nagano. Ditto to that. Almost everyone on this thread agrees with the above answer.

With literally a new tournament every week I never grasped the true span of time between competitions. Since Sasuke 20, however, I started to realize just how long the wait is between tournaments.

Gotta agree too. I started watching Ninja Warrior in late 2008. I had no idea there was so much around it...didn't know when the tournaments I was watching were taped... After a while I googled for some pictures of Nagano (yep...gotta admit that... ) and found Rambling Rican. Then in July 2009 I found this place...and the rest is history ;D Sometimes I still read something about , for example, "STQer X Y" and wonder "Who is this guy?" while everybody else seems to know who he is. So imagine my wtf face when I found out a certain "Yuuji Urushihaara" guy had reached the final stage in Sasuke 22, back in last March.
