Remember after SASUKE 17, that Akiyama retired and Takeda almost missed 18 because he was going to retire? Out of the 5 left (we'll leave Yamada out of this conversation) do you think any of them will officially retire? And if they do "retire", would they ever come out of retirement?

I don't see Nagano, Takeda, or Yamamoto retiring anytime soon.... Bunpei and Akiyama will probably still be off-and-on like they have been though.

Well if Akiyama finally gets his way he'll still continue going if Nagano goes.. kinda depends if TBS is being a jerk atm and not send invites.. /sigh.. Bunpei is a hit or miss.. Unless they find out wtf is up with his back he's screwed.. he might only come in summer months when cold weather isn't throwing his back out.
As for the "core 3" as I like calling them.. they are not going anywhere.. if they are.. they all go together. Shingo alone will not be allowed to miss unless he broke his leg or something.. even a broken shoulder didn't keep him out of Sasuke.

Shingo CANT retire. He is the only one to be in every tourney so he has to stay. lol Bumpei is done already. Nagano and Takeda will retire at around sasuke 30-35 range. Akiyama might stick with them, or maybe not.

"Shingo CANT retire" - yodauo Joke: i can imagine Shingo going at Sasuke 100 or AD2060 or whatever with grey hair, walking stick, going at the 1st obstacle. LOL!

^ And don't forget his smelly old uniform! =D
I could see only the "core" 3 remaining if Shiratori decides to retire. I'm a bit unsure about Akiyama though.

And we all know that Yamada will probably continue to compete until either
1. he dies, 2. he gets too sick to compete, or 3. they don't allow him to compete anymore for some reason unrelated to the previous two
As for the rest of them, Nagano, Takeda, and Yamamoto will probably keep going for a while still, while Akiyama and Shiratori may still compete occasionally or "retire" soon.

I certainly hope that Yamada will decide to come back, and that TBS will let him come back, if not for 25, then for 26. I still believe in him. I think Akiyama will continue. Bunpei will probably compete when he can. Nagano, Shingo, and Takeda will keep competing. I don't think anything short of a broken leg would stop Shingo from competing, and maybe not even that. I think all six of them will continue to be "All-Stars." Even if Yamada, Bunpei, and Akiyama stop competing, they'll still be All-Stars. That's how the fans think of them. I don't think TBS will say that they're no longer All-stars.

In his will, it'll be said tht he'll be wheeled out in a coufin and thrown in the water, he'll be # 94.5

Most professional athletes know when it's time to hang it up and many of them choose to retire when they know their bodies can't hack it anymore or they want to go out still top of their game. Clearly, Yamada and Akiyama aren't at the top of their game and Bunpei just can't shake his injuries. I would also say that Shingo and maybe even Takeda have a hard time with their injuries so maybe retirement from SASUKE isn't that far away. I agree that they will likely all leave together (at least Shingo, Takeda and Nagano) but I can't see them lasting too many more years. They will be thinking about their health and families after all.

Actually their jobs have benefited considerably from the exposure they have from the show... well for those who have jobs

I'd say it's viable to talk about. Like a... will he or won't he type of thing.

Nah he's right. scnoi specifically said to not mention Yamada in the first post. Though in actuality I was talking to XJ-6 specifically since he asked about jobs. I just threw that last bit as a stinger.
