What do you think?
I thought the obstacle looked pretty tough at first since the first person who attempted it actually jumped to the middle rope, but then it turned out that you can still get enough momentum to just swing right across.
I think they should've kept the Lamp Grasper, but hopefully we have a much better obstacle for Sasuke 25.

Wasn't gapped enough.
I think TBS/M9 wanted someone to win so badly, they made these obstacles easier.
The Lamp Grasper has ran its course imo.

The Kudari Lamp Grasper IMO is bad but much better than this.

I for one tournament had an obstacle almost identical to that except the ropes had rings on the end of them. Keyword, ONE, theres a reason why it lasted 1 tournament.

I suspect that the rope junction was a response to Levi's run in 23. If you don't recall, go back and watch him on the Downward Globe Grasp in 23. Yep, that's him ignoring the left half of the obstacle entirely and using only 5 globes on the right half.
After seeing some of the testers on the ill-named history special, I strongly suspect that they tried Levi's method and decided they needed to replace it with an obstacle that would be harder than doing that obstacle with Levi's method.
The result, 6 ropes you really don't want to skip any of, and at least "something new" for a Stage 3 that really didn't change for 3-5 tournaments depending on how you look at it.
I really don't think it was easier than the Downward Globe Grasp, but what's important is that the Rope Junction served it's function, and can fortunately be retired or made alarmingly more difficult given the circumstances.

If you ask me it WAS better than the Kudari Ranpu Grasper.. That being said I didn't like the globes.. (If you ask me there was a reason they were taken out, they didn't need to be put back and made easier).
But I just thought of a way to make the rope junction a real obstacle. Space out the middle rope just barely so you have to jump to it like Tajima. Then you want to have only one rope after the long middle rope and grab that, swing with that and the big rope, on your back swing transfer to the long rope but lower and then swing from that onto the long rope.
I really hope you guys can understand WTF I'm talking about XD

It looks a LITTLE harder than the globe grasp, but the difference in difficulty is minimal at best. Plus it just looks dumb I'm pretty sure they knew someone would win so they knew it'd be a 1 time obstacle, thus they didn't even have to try and think of something good.

I'm sure that they could've thought of something better, though they're probably saving whatever this is going to be until Sasuke 25.

It might actually have been challenging if the ropes had all been short and about 2 metres apart or more. And making them chains would make it more difficult.

And making them chains would make it more difficult. but painful indeed. Imagine missing a rope and slamming face first onto a chain right before falling in the water.

Gap is too far rider, that's very hard to build enough momentum with such short ropes. Make it maybe a foot closer and it'd be good.

Make it maybe a foot closer and it'd be good. OK.. look at the real one and imagine one of the ropes after the long rope gone

I edited to it's redesigned so you HAVE to jump to the middle rope like Tajima did and then took off one of the short ropes in the second half so you have to swing the long rope and swing that and reach to the long rope at the end. You said move the middle rope a foot back, but that would just make it the same as the one from 24 but missing a rope on the second half, defeating the purpose of the "redesign"..

I meant the one in your picture, as of now that's way to far away to jump too. You moved it much further than 1 foot ahead. Move it a foot back and it'd be challenging, but fair.
