This should put all of the volunteers to purchase a WIST stream for all the upcoming events (including Sasuke 24) into one "confirmed host" room. I and probably many others would like to see who and how many people are planning on hosting for others to join. Okie dokie. We are hoping to have more than a couple people doing livestream accounts showing feeds. I've been getting a few requests to help out here's a way you can help! I just hope we get to see who those people are and maybe see some new ones pop up in here. If we don't get anyone replying saying they're willing to buy WIST for a month, it may be a warning to us. Sasuke 23 had over 200 users at it's peak and a LOT of people locked out of the rooms because of the cap. That is a lot, and if we don't want the majority of us to use Keyhole this time we need plenty of hosts. a) Buy WIST for one month and create your own livestream account. You can get up to 50 people watching off of one livestream account. www.livestream.com/50?! With news like that I can count on probably only 3 or 4 hosts. First test will be this Sunday for Sasuke Navi.

We tested Supersheep and Supernovamaniac and so we have those 2 for a total of 100 people. They are going to try to get unlimited accounts but we don't know how long it takes for an account to be verified and frankly I don't want to risk it. I'd like at least 3-4 more. Again we will post the accounts starting Sunday as to who's hosting but please if you are still on the fence I'm hoping everyone helps out since TVAnts is no longer an option and by now you all know how KeyHole Crashes.
For those outside of this country who check here often please feel free to do the same! I know chatting with people in your own language is a lot of fun so if you do that please do so! We want as many people watching as possible! It's a great show to watch live.

I've never seen a live broadcast and I'm sorta confused. Where is it and how do I get to it? Do I need an account?

I would love to help host it, but sadly my computer is down right now. I'll help out on the next one for sure.

I would love to host too, however the software that you have to download in order to broadcast for livestream slows down my computer to a crawl. If there was a different program or site that takes less power to run, I'd be all for it

In a doomsday scenario you all could run a stream of my stream and we'd get 50x50 spots. However this will greatly lower the quality and should only be used as an absoulute last resort.

I could reinstall procaster and stream somehow if I get a stream. I don't know how I'd do the live chat in the SMF chat which I usually like doing though.

It goes without saying, I can lend a technical hand where people require it.

And I can lend a hand too if you want to stream through livestream. Jason and I are full hands on deck... or at least I am.

Jason is not hosting a page he can't do both. He's providing a feed but not a livestream room. Does that make sense? so right now it's just Nova, Sheep and I guess now Rider iirc. So we are up to 150 people that can watch.

I am pretty sure I have got it all figured out now. Just out of curiosity, is there a reason we don't use www.ustream.tv or www.justin.tv since they offer unlimited viewers? I have never streamed with them personally, but I have watched sporting events on them before and they seem to be decent. Offtopic: TBS is showing some awesome Japan Karaoke Grand Prix 2009 right now.

Yes ustream.tv and justin.tv do offer unlimited viewers, but livestream provides the best quality from what I know.

Here's the real question, so justin/ustream even allow widescreen source content yet? Last I saw, their interfaces were purely 4:3.
Well, I guess it's not a question of allowing widescreen content, because they'll allow any content. But a 4:3 frame gives up a lot of space when you have 16:9 content inside of it. Ever heard of Letterboxing?
And actually, amusingly enough, WIST provides video at a resolution that's 1.5:1 (720x480 IIRC), so I guess Aspect Ratio is a bit unimportant anyways. But 16:9 is closer to 1.5:1 than 4:3 is.

WIST is 360x240, so yeah when you double it you get the 720x480. I was just looking at justin and ustream and I think I like livestream the best too.

Erm. Yeah, it provides at 360x240, which is 1.5:1. You're right, as am I. We both are!
.... go team?
