Complete accident (google) that I stumbled upon these 2007 blogs from "Bengoshi Sasuke" Lenny Jiang. You may know him as one of the many colorful guests (or victims) of Sasuke 19, sporting laser lime colored underwear, bright tights, a shirt that surprisingly was not torn off and a tux if that weren't enough. Seems that he was very happy about his trip and went through a lot of trouble to get his run on his blog, but since then it's been deleted. So Lenny, I guess I'll do ya a favor that's 2 years late and upload it.
Great run, considering all the other versions of the jumping spider he deserved to pass it. Great jump he just landed too far on the outsides of the walls. Had his hands stuck he would have been good, obviously sticking all 4 limbs saved a ton of competitors this season (Takeda, Nagasaki, Washimi)
I enjoyed his blog because shamefully enough I did not know he was American. However, watching his run before I usually noticed after his wipe out that he bows and just gives an "okay" to everyone watching at home. Speaking of which, does anyone find this kind of odd? There's literally a shadow of somebody in front of Lenny flashing a "rock on" hand sign, the shadow is clearly visible.
Damn that's hard to capture.. Not clear enough? well that's all you're getting
I'll leave the excellent pictures up to one's own discovery, but.. what's this?..
Bengoshi, you're a great guy and all, love your American dedication, but just to the left of you...
That's friggin Yoshi Minami!!!! Praise jebus for getting to see him somewhere other than the starting line for once!! haha he is standing on wood? I'm just thrilled an HD pic of him was found somewhere, instead of the murkiness of the 19 broadcast we have.
Lenny Jiang was number 42 during his big day, and of course, who went after him? no. 43 was none other than Actor Yoshihiro Minami, first competitor to beat the Jumping Spider in friggin 19! Everybody should be forced to watch this guy's run, it's so good it's unbelievable. It's not just about the "JS incident" as I like to call it, this guy knows how to flip at the start line, flip on the JS trampoline, flip his hair, and well, he's an Actor! I just felt that he had all the components of being a perfect guest to Sasuke, one of those people that doesn't need to compete a lot but just to be a guest that adds color to the show.
I don't think I could go on as a fan of this guy's appearance without uploading his run and making sure it's on the internet somewhere, it's essential. The incident, well, first jump he stuck his feet out too soon, hence he was about to slip. Instead of suffering the same fate as the many before him he retreated, hahah, only to laugh at his mistake and LAUNCH himself up there. The pimp got so much speed I don't think he was ready for the impact, his limbs were shaking after landing. Minami needs to stop making this obstacle look so fun.
So in this blog, the combination of words and pics just shows that every random competitor that you see run from the START has a hobby, life and a story behind how they got there.
This really brought me back to the older days too, when 19 was the latest tournament. This was before I really knew much about Sasuke and was really excited for SASUKE 20, friggin 20 was coming next! Little did I expect in the future, my attention would revert back to 19 and it would be highly praised and 20 highly dismissed. Lol I loved the 2007 days, watching 18 and 19 over and over on G4, great fun. Before I knew anything about the competition or what I thought would happen in the future, the stage we go through before we know every single fact to date. Nostalgia that’s only 2 years old, but damn has so much changed since then. We are already practically 5 whole tournaments ahead of what I wish I could relive. I feel like such a blogger now, but this brought back finger licking happy times.
