Well last time there were 4 hours and we got almost all the first stage runs So you're saying in 23's first stage they got to everyone's full run? Well, while that may be the case, there is no doubt that runs of celebrities and guests who have interesting jobs that there is usually time for to show, were not shown in 23. There was obviously a lot more to get to in the later stages because of all the ones who advanced.

Ah ok, but I'm pretty sure that 23 was supposed to film on a Sunday but got pushed to Monday to avoid rain... It is possible albeit very unlikely.. even one day change at the last minute could result in half the invites being unable to show up because of scheduling and lodging problems. Japanese blogs had the Monday up as the taping date as early as 2 weeks before the event.. so not sure how credible waiting for weather was unless they were relying on 2 week forecasts. We all know they didn't wait for Kunoichi since it was still raining a little and swamped in mud just a week before. There were too many things scheduled too close (including trials) to move around that much at the last second.

I actually thought about this too when I heard it was 6 hours, that everyone's run would be shown (at least in digest). 23 had a lot of people shown actually (~80). So if it is 6 hours it is possible. Really, it all depends on the results. Terrible results and we'll have 20 all over again, great results and it will probably have similar pace to 23 with a few more fluff pieces and longer recaps.

It seemed like 23 didn't have a lot of "Joke" competitors who fail on the first obstacle. With more Real competitors = more time on stage one, more contestants on stage two. So maybe they will have even less Joke competitors, which would be a shame.

Actually.. 23 had probably more "BIG" name comedians than any other. Ube and I lost track at the amount of comedians this time around.. we thought 22 was bad.. 23 was also just as bad. They decided to go the teen route and invite pop stars for both 23 and Kunoichi to entice the younger audience. Heck.. one person alone got internet blogs buzzing for 2 straight days going ZOMG he's going to be there. LOL I suspect with a BIG show for New Year's Day they will go all out and get as many named people they can get their hands on. Seems to make sense if they plan to grab as many channel flippers as possible..

Does the submission have to be in Japanese, or will they translate it into Japanese if they pick our submission?

I just thought of something... could they possibly be inviting more than 100?

Does the submission have to be in Japanese, or will they translate it into Japanese if they pick our submission? Submissions don't have to be Japanese. It was just a thought that if you are sending it to M9 it would be courteous to put something in their language and thus raise your chances to be picked. That said.. G4 is helping pick and they hardly know a word of Japanese I just thought of something... could they possibly be inviting more than 100? They always do but it's usually connected with Celebrities that might have commitments fall through, etc. Some years we've had less than 100 and Sasuke 23 we had almost 104-105 Kinda depends.. it's always difficult inviting a lot of people not knowing for sure if they will all show up. I doubt though that would matter with American's picked though - it shouldn't factor in the equation. Changing the formula though is not an option if that's the direction you were thinking. The time it's shown (6 hours - provided it's all the tournament and not some specials attached to it) has nothing to do with the tournament itself but rather lending to the New Year's Day filler format that is prevalent of that day's programing.

True, I believe they invited 106 once. But maybe they'd invite like 125 or 150 if this is going to be the last SASUKE.

We only have to go by how many extra people ran without numbers. That's the only way we know for sure how many actually were there As for inviting more.. they already finish around 4 am as it is on a good day.. the last thing they want to do is complicate things and move away from the already 12 years+ formula. Doesn't make sense honestly.

SASUKE 23 had about 105 as #10-#6 ANW qualifiers didn't have numbers. It is possible that SASUKE 18 had 102 people (as Sato and Takeda had no numbers), SASUKE 21 had 101 (as seen by the competitor list), and SASUKE 22 probably had 101 as Terukazu Ishikawa didn't have a number. So more times than not, they have more than 100.
Also, the way this tournament is named: SASUKE2010, implies that if there are more tournaments after 24, they won't be in 2010.

For example.. both Sasuke's 22 www.tbs.co.jp/program/sasuke_20090330.htmland 23 www.tbs.co.jp/program/sasuke20090927.htmlwere labeled Sasuke 2009 They just say Spring or Fall, etc. etc. They have always had the years attached.. look at the sadlecloth's.

I know that. But even with 22 and 23, they had a symbol after them representing either fall (秋) or spring (春) or even something like 謹賀新年 (which means Happy New Years like they did for SASUKE 14). SASUKE2010 has none on the official announcement.

Wait until the TBS page comes out. M9's announcements aren't always clear on how they do that. remember.. they usually don't write that stuff.. they used to let TBS do it for a while Could be something simple as the person who put the information online to shut up the fanbase Remember the original message announcing Sasuke 24 had the Americans vs. All-Stars... now they changed the announcement when they mentioned the airdate as "New Year's Special!" (which I find amusing since between that time Nagano bitched he hated the such and such vs.. but I know it's all coincidence).

I wait for the tbs page to come out, but I do not think it will be the last tournament, I could understand why is it early remember 2010 is a olympic year with the winter games in vancouver and the world cup in south africa, who knows when a next tournament, will happen, maybe in october or november.
As, for sportsman no.1, can you give us an update when that will come out, that will be interesting in itself, with sasuke and sportsman no.1, back to back which I could see happen, or what is going to happen, wait till after the olympics?

We have no idea of the fate of Sportsman #1. Historically it was set for New Years Day or somewhere around there.... They already canceled the celebrity version.. not sure if they are going to keep the pro. If anyone hears anything about that I'm sure they will post. So far no word either way.

According to a mixi user, 12/8 will be the taping date. Don't know their actual name so I'm looking for other sources to verify. 12/8 is a Tuesday by the way.
There had been rumblings before amongst mixi users that there wasn't going to be a SASUKE Trial this time around so if the above is true then probably that's true too.

WOW that's going to be early if that's the case.. if so.. there's almost no time left for any Americans to figure out.. unless they find out this week.. or next.. (which of course would be on par as to how late they let everyone else know). Hmmm definitely let us know if you hear anything else behind the mixi firewall. Interesting stuff. Thanks!
