I'm pretty sure I've seen him a couple of times under other art names. Once in Bamboo Derby, and one in that thing I don't remember the name, that sort of...giant wooden hammer with red giant ball? Anyway, I'm pretty sure it was him.

Omori was a veteran of Banzuke, which would attribute to his consistently high numbers on SASUKE.

oh now I remember about him in the sponge bridge...well, I remember it because he did a spectacular butt backflip when falling. That was hilarious.
Oh, talking about Akiyama, didn't he pwn Yamada in that competition? I never saw it, but I remember something like that.

No, but Yamada did around 250 and lost to the "defending champion" whose name I cannot remember.

Don't you mean 307 worms? What are "worms"? Is that another name for push-ups or what? Either way, doing 307 of whatever in 3 minutes means that Akiyama did about 3 every 2 seconds!!!

Watched Yamada's match today (Akiyama's wasn't aired by G4). Yamada did 248 but Kohei Asano the young Hercules did 275, a record at the time.

If you've watched Banzuke you should get the joke, or it was just horrible executed. Most people who watch those pushups... well after awhile they don't even look like pushups anymore, it's just them either hitting the button with their chins or humping the floor, making it look like they're doing the worm. Pushups... not so much. Not that I'm trying to discredit any winners on the show, but their forms fall apart. If I remember correctly it seemed like Yamada had a pretty strict form in the beggining. So props to him.

I just sort of forgot about that and didn't get it right away.

And yes, it was bad joke execution. Back to an earlier topic, before Banzuke went to series, G4 marathoned eight "test" episodes (for lack of a better term) which had a slightly different presentation to them. One of them chronicled the early heats of the "Inter Japan Quick Muscle Championships," a single-elimination hump-a-thon. I don't remembered the featured heat(s), but they involved some combination of Asano, Yamada, and Akiyama. This episode has never re-aired, probably because they don't have the rights to the rest of the tournament. And what the hell is "canoe polo"?

I found the JET airing of the episode (I don't know if it's the full event). You can find the link you know where.

I saw Kane and Shane Kosugi on Bansuke, they were doing Extra Kendama, I think Kane knocked the top off as he tried to remove the third log.
