There are some places (the Chinese wiki) for example that have said that JET sent another Taiwanese player to compete in SASUKE 17. He got a number in the 30s (I think 31 off the top of my head) but he failed the Rolling Log. No footage has been broadcast of this (unless JET edited him in or something to that extent).

Well they chose to have significantly less time to invite everyone and do everything but the special occasion airdate compensates. LOL I was typing just as you wrote it ahahhahahah man I'm fried... lul. oh the images you keep making me think of when you say that.

sconi, i have read the chinese wiki, you are right, they sent 2 guys in 17. But that guy is a taiwan actor-celebrity that had no real chance. 17 was the 1st sasuke that taiwan was invited so they probably sent an extra competitor to boost publicity. actually i have read about it previously before in chinese wiki but i forgot cause i dismiss it off as a one time thing cause the guy is a celebrity, not a serious competitor. davidyko, thanks for the great translation but ( joke... ) you just BLEW YOUR COVER! I guess arsenette will be bugging you for all the Japanese & Chinese translations from now on! - Sorry David & Elsie, i am sure you 2 can take an occasional dig.

Oh that is really interesting! Thank you Any other info on him? What is his name? So this is legit info? Because there are a few results there that can't really be proven either way but would be cool if they were correct.

sconi, i did not watch the entire sasuke 17, hell i have never watched a single sasuke ( 1~22 ).all i watched was clips on youtube & 1 single season of Ninja warrior ( it was a mixed up version, included footage of various seasons, ending with Nagano's victory in 17 )...
so i don't think i can honestly say the info is 100% legit. I just got the info from chinese wiki, just like you. But from the name in the wiki, what i know is the guy is a B-list TV actor in taiwan but i heard he is very also well-known in japan cause of 1 old TV series he acted in the 1990s ( never watched it, but i believed he acted as a handsome vampire ). The guy now is no longer as popular like he was 10 years back. i guessed JET at the time invited him cause he is known in both taiwan & japan ( no superstar but at least his name will be recognised by the japanese audiences ). however, that didn't seem to help, eh? So he was cut off entirely in the broadcast?

Oops, i forgot about answering your question.
the guy stated in the wiki is ’ÂŽq‹. pronounced as Chen Zi Qiang, had the number 23 & fell off rolling log ( but all this is just translated from chinese wiki, no legit proof ).

That's pretty cool. Yea, he was cut from any broadcast unless the JET broadcast of 17 has him edited in. Thanks!

LOL no offense taken. I did some real-time translating during the broadcasts for 21 and 23 anyway. And that's very interesting about the other Taiwanese guy; TBS has never, ever mentioned that I think.

wow, david, what time is it in germany now?
As to you saying ( quote ) : "perhaps for some reason they couldn't arrange for Lee to be sent to Japan?" well regarding this i can speculate 1 possible reason:-
Lee went to sasuke once in 2006 (17), once in 2007 (18?), once in 2008 (21) but TWICE already in 2009 (22 & 23). I guess JET had already used up the budget. JET probably didn't expect another sasuke so soon in the same financial year so their finance department probably didn't set aside a budget for a 3rd trip. All speculation of course but highly probable

8:48 am now. And that's pretty probable, actually. I was just thinking he'd really stepped up his appearances recently...

GAH, from those pictures, it looks like they changed a ton of obstacles! Poor Nagano. (Yes, I'm kidding/poking fun at all the speculators)

The bleachers and tents block the view of the course and all we can see is a big tower (Not the final stage) at or after the start line. And that's usually there (for all we know it might be for a banner like 20)

Shimizu was a tester for 23 but got an invite for 24. As arsenette pointed out to me, he's number 67.
The group in the parking lot is cheering on someone named Maeda Seiji 前田誠二. That's what the hats and the sign in one of the lower pictures say. Since Maeda's friend was posting at 5 PM and was speaking about the event in the past tense Maeda probably finished his day early.
Also, the person talks about soccer player Fukunishi, which is probably Takashi Fukunishi who was in 23.

So Alison being done either means Sasuke ended quckly.....or she finished her business and didn't stick around, which would be weird....then again she's implying she has to fly back (not before a little R&R) the same day, has G4 ever done that before? Left before they finished taping? Of course this would have to be in either 18 (with just Zach) or 21 (I don't remember if they stayed). Since 19 ended early and 22, 23 we know they were there.
