Nothing has been posted officially anywhere.. and quite frankly the rumor I'm hearing is "New Year".. Given that it's the English wiki notorious for their horrible information just to get attention.. I take it is yet another rumor. Until you see it on a TV Guide (that's not even printed yet in Japan), TBS site (ditto), M9/Muscle Park/Sasuke Mania Official site.. it's just that.. rumor.

Have a tournament of SASUKE 12/31 to end the show.
Have a tournament of new obstacle challenge show 1/1 to mark its beginning.
If they plan on ending the show, I think that might be a good idea.

I hope it's not true...my parents would never allow me to watch it...

TBS usually runs a K-1/MMA show on 12/31 as an antidote to NHK's Kohaku Uta Gassen. Kohaku ratings usually run between the 30s and 40s.
January 1 is generally when they air Sportsman No. 1 (not always though) which has never cracked the top ten for it's slot. Too many variety/comedy shows go on during the New Year's holidays (1/1 - 1/3).
Not exactly the best times to run SASUKE or some iteration of it if you want the show to be an ongoing concern.

I'll see what I can find out though I'm still hearing "for the new year".. Could be something simple like recording in December and airing in January but not necessarily for New Year's Day. All speculation at this point..
Agreed Ube there's a bunch of stuff at this time of the year.. unless.. they are not showing Sportsman?

Ack. I hope it's December. I'll miss it if it's Januray 3rd or later; we're going on vacation.

It being on one of the last days of the year (between 12/25 and 12/31) would make seeing Sasuke 24 a late Christmas present for me! ;D ;D ;D

Bit of a stretch, but I see a December 15th taping date with a Jan. 10th broadcast date. Gives time for Sportsman and Sasuke with a week difference (assuming they show Sportsman on the 3rd), if TBS would be willing to risk it.

OK. I understand why someone thought the show would be on December 24th.
On the SASUKE Official site mobile's site, they have the history listed as this:
2009.12. 24th | 2009.09. 23rd | 2009.03. 22nd and so on.
The third number (after year and month) is the SASUKE competition number, not the date it was (or will be) held.
It's entirely possible that it will be held on the 24th but more than likely, they don't even know the final filming date at this point, much less the air date.

Actually at least according to Nagano's company .. the date is Sasuke 2010. So by default.. it can't be December, 2009. Taping may be .. but not airdate. That's as far as I know atm.

Well since the topic is here, I edited Wikipedia's entry to Jan 1st.
That is, until it was modified again by someone else, then the entire section regarding 24 was removed entirely.

Btw did you update the Facebook page? I know the announcement went out but wasn't sure who changes the information section. As for the general wiki.. the past couple of days was interesting.. someone has having fun putting up fake announcers.. LOL

I myself haven't updated the Info section since Kunoichi 8, adding the new kanzenseiha achievers to the list.
Though, Scnoi & I are the only ones that can update the info section in the group.
