Good luck man. This is ridiculous if G4 has that much pull. After all they do nothing to produce Sasuke and they have more power than any TV station from the TV stations that show Sasuke around the world. The caveat has always been that G4 has trials therefore qualify through there.. but if they don't have trials we should be allowed to send entries.

I'm betting they put more money in the coffers than any other TV station that shows Sasuke, if for no other reason than they have the Ninja Challenge. That money has to go somewhere. My perception is that the localization is a joint effort between TBS, M9, and the local stations (as is oft the case with anime), but G4 has the rights to spots in the tournament, and how they fill them is strictly G4's prerogative.

The wording from all previous M9 conversations for the past year I've had all stated that the only reason G4 had the right to do it is because they had "trials". There was no other reason.

I'm sure there's more to it than that. I can't imagine G4 having exclusivity to spots without a contract and/or payment.
It's possible that whoever you talked to either legitimately didn't know or Word of God is that G4 has it because they can.

Eh.. I'm pretty sure of what I know since I got this from various sources besides the direct emails I got from a couple of them They do get money for the licensing of ANW but the only reason why they got it was because of "trials". And this only started after Sasuke 21.

Hmmm well the only reason I can think that G4 would be preventing americans from applying to m9 would be if they are planning on sending back Levi and maybe some others to represent America.

I think G4 wants to monopolize Sasuke, if that makes sense, and the best way to do that was to convince M9 and TBS to let them handle all American applicants. I think G4 has realized how loyal we all are to Sasuke and to even Ninja Warrior, they just have no clue on how to make us happy. At least this ANW thing was pretty close.
Seeing as Paul Terek was in Sasuke 22 and I doubt he went through G4... it's starting to look like G4 doesn't have control after all.

But he's an Olympian, it's not like he's some random guy no one knows. Better example would probably be Mike Milner from Sasuke 20 (who G4 completely ignored to create the illusion G4 is the only way to get on, even if he got on since some people canceled because of the date change)

So we have to use G4, unless we contact Sasuke directly and they want us there? Sounds like a lack of control to me.
They must have wanted Michael Milner but ran out of spots. Think about it. They could have easily given a spot to someone who had done well in the trials or something, but no. They chose someone on the other side of the planet.

Foreigners have been allowed on the show since it started.. only from Sasuke 21 and on has Monster 9 lost control over American entries. That said they still had a few that were in Japan at the time. You guys already know how pissed I am about G4 controlling who goes considering that no other country has this restriction. Doesn't mean M9 has to pick Americans either.. just that they should have the prerogative to cast their own show... G4 has failed to copy what M9 does with almost no budget and very little preparation - an actual trials. To this date there hasn't been one that isn't somehow predetermined in some aspect of the competition (like the finals). The fact that G4 STILL wants to control Sasuke 24 with no trials whatsoever pisses me off. Kinda reminds me of ANC4 where only 1 fan was chosen and no other Americans were allowed to participate past their former competitors (Lucy and Levi). As expensive as it is.. I'd rather have M9 handle all applications with a small few coming from a 3rd rate cable company that not even 1/3 of the country even sees on their on TV screen..

They do not accept applications to Sasuke through email. I remember mentioning this before which is why I put the information they posted on all of their websites - their actual address you mail stuff to (like a letter, a picture and a video in some format (I believe they take any - meaning DVD, CD or VHS tape).
The emails we were referring to was for those who wanted to make sure M9 was even taking American Applications and for that I'd always go to the source - M9. The 2nd email I put up was for the Sasuke Mania website. It's unclear if that has it's own webmaster but it is still tied to M9. Muscle Park is just the theme park and employees answer emails there pertaining to the running of the park and not necessarily about Sasuke.

G4 more than likely has an exclusivity clause in their contract. Food Network had one for Iron Chef, and I won't mention some of the things we did to get hold of the originals.

I emailed M9 today in hopes of hearing it from the horses mouth whether or not Americans can go outside of G4's selections. Also still speaking with my contact from G4 who is actually being helpful and trying to find out for me as well. I'll post as soon as I get a definite answer from either source.

Getting a definite answer would be best. Considering that no one has heard back (usually it's pretty fast when they say "oh go back to G4") it might prove to be interesting. I'm sure knowing that there are no trials might be playing with their minds a bit. What's the hurt? Heck they can say "go ahead and send your applications" and not pick a single one... it's the idea that they would stop us from doing it from 21-23 is the point that's ridiculous. Definitely keep us in the loop. I don't believe there is a clause on the contract for this. Just something I've heard around. The only thing that might be on there is about broadcasting rights and redistribution. The biggest issue is with ANW and the ability to have an actual offshoot. Given that ANW is not being run for Sasuke 24 that would render whatever else invalid. Since it hasn't aired we don't know if they have been approved for another season yet... I'm sure TBS is involved with this since they are pretty touchy with anyone using the footage that went over their airwaves.
