Video submissions might show spoilers of the new obstacles, so all I can think of is that they're going to either send invitations to people who did well during the trials along with some old names from previous ANC's (winners and runner-ups) and have them run another mini course, but also have to go through numerous strength and grip tests instead of free-runner-friendy obstacles since I'm sure they know by now that bombarding the competition with freerunners hasn't really gotten any Americans to the final stage, or they'll just bring back the 3 who made it, and Campbell, and also just go ahead and pick a few more based off their record in ANC (like runner-ups who've shown consistency (Strat!!!)), and maybe even guys who almost had a chance and deserve it (Rus!!!).

Information posted at the G4 Forums: forums.g4tv.com/forumdisplay.php?f=30PLEASE! Do not mention where the information was given to us (Strat), due to the sensitive nature of the subject. Last thing we want to do is harm his chances, after helping us get special information!

Meh. I'm back to being disillusioned about the whole ANW business. It seemed like there was a real Sasuke spirit among Unc, Strat, Rus, Ryogo and a bunch of others last time...only to see them passed over in favor of a bunch of guys who never even heard of the show. Best of luck to everybody competing for a spot, but truly...I can't say I care anymore.

From what Strat was saying I hope it's video submissions with those picks running another ANW course. I'm thinking the decision to do video submissions had to do with the Parkour guys that showed up with no passion for Sasuke, but wanted a ticket back to Japan or to increase their exposure or whatever.
I just hope anyone has a chance, rather than an invite-only from past competitions.
The other thing too is that I don't mind them sending 10 people over. I know there's some of us who love Sasuke and want to keep it "pure" in a sense (I'm sure there's a better word than pure), but there are some of us who want to participate if we can and the more people that can go over means the better the odds are.

Best of luck to everybody competing for a spot, but truly...I can't say I care anymore. But that's not anyone's fault. G4 wanted to send their favorites, but stuck true to the rules they gave, instead of cheating them. The other competitors wanted to go to Japan just like us, regardless they didn't know the show. If we couldn't beat the people G4 sent, and they in-turn couldn't beat stage 1, then that means we wouldn't be able to beat Stage 1 either, and need to improve anyway. Better to fail back here in America and keep trying, rather than be sent and fail there. I'm sure we all feel that we don't want to go and fail our first time, as G4 will probably not want to send us again. I mean, look at David and Brian. Each had to fight for their chance to go back. We all want to get it the first time, otherwise we hurt our chances. Now look at the 10 sent. Only 3 passed. That means the other 7 are going to have a bit more difficult path for trying to go back, if they choose to try again. I have friends who didn't make it through stage 1, so I feel kinda upset for them, that it's going to be easier for me as a no-name, than for them who have already gone and didn't make it. Even though they are already good friends with the G4 staff.

This is my problem with this statement.. if they chose ALL that passed the first stage the first time around and brought them ALL to the next stage and they failed there.. then I wouldn't have a problem.. but they didn't.. they chose the "fastests" times.. that alone pissed me off. We have no idea how they would have done showing their true strengths.. considering that Sasuke is not about who's the fastest but who is the best overall in 4 stages. G4 got is really wrong in that respects. The final round also was the biggest joke of all time. Explains why half of Team Tempest was there in the first place.. and why most of them failed.

The selection process will never be good enough for us until the people we want to be sent are sent. I'm sure they have incredibly similar gripes in Japan for the same basic reasons.

That's not necessarily true. My main problem with G4 is that only half of the competition had anything to do with Sasuke.. which is why we got the people who went.
Sasuke Trials in Japan is another story but I can't argue with the results since we did see them fail. Not so in the USA.. The top 10 was picked not because they won anything.. is because G4 picked them. Sasuke Trials is not like that at all. I may b**** about how they got there but I can see on film that Keita fell off of something at the last second. They are going to have to have their BS Meter set on Ultra for G4 to clean up the disaster with part of ANW...

But this was also their first time doing something like this.
Many of you may not like G4 (Understandably so), but I do simply for the fact that through them, I get a snowballs chance in hell.
That aside, like I said... This was their first time. Rules will be figured out a bit more, and obstacles will be tweaked. I hope that a better version of the Jumping Spider will take place next time (Emphasizing the actual trampoline jump and not just the wall-walk), and I sure to God hope the end changes though...

Not knowing a lot of the ANW specifics (in part because I don't want to), I can't comment much, but I think I can comment on this. if they chose ALL that passed the first stage the first time around and brought them ALL to the next stage and they failed there.. then I wouldn't have a problem.. but they didn't.. they chose the "fastest" times.. that alone pissed me off. Why? If SASUKE is about Speed! in addition to Power! and Balance! I think you can get away with a "Top X advance" (provided it's properly enforced). Kunoichi has done this in the past, and it's flown there.

The final round was not the best man standing. It was who G4 would best fit the show... they said that a long time ago and we knew that. The only time they had whoever had the best time in the end was ANC2 where we had Levi and Brian winning over Ruselis in the finals. Even that was screwed up in how they got to the finals but there is very little arguing since everyone knew that ahead of the time. The problems here were there were too many people showing up at once and it was clear that G4 had no clear plan as to many they actually thought would pass stage 1. It's like telling people "hey you cleared stage one but you didn't do it fast enough.. that sucks for you. No Stage 2 for you. Then when you got to stage 2 and 3 they decide.. Nope.. I think we like the personality of this person better so you get to stay home and watch. It wasn't about the performance but what they thought would fit "ANW" .. and no Sasuke.

They should just copy the Japanese 23 trials. They got a 2/3 first stage success rate while G4 only got a 1/3 first stage success rate.
I completely disagree with the time factor. People who rush through and clear are no better than people who play it safe and clear.
They needed a tougher first stage with a set time limit and anyone who cleared made it automatically to the second stage.
The second stage should have been like the current third stage (and the Salmon Ladder) with no time limit. But it should be tough enough so that only a few clear.

That's not true at all. His logic says that people who clear faster aren't necessarily better than people who take more time, but are still within the time limit. I agree with this and feel it should be taken into consideration by G4 for the next trials, ie. have a time limit instead of whoever goes fastest.

The problem is that Stage 1 IS timed (ANW's and Sasuke's and Sasuke Trials).. so by that if you passed in the time allotted they they should allow those competitors to move on to the next stage and get eliminated there. If they were hell bent on having a certain amount they should have judged the time better and cut it down.
Again this is the first competition but I'm not happy with the results solely and ONLY solely because the final had nothing to do with the competition but who G4 felt best represented THEIR version of what ANW was supposed to be. That alone is completely against Sasuke. Heck if that were the case quite a few people I'd like to eliminate from ever stepping foot in Sasuke.. but it's not supposed to be about personality but physical ability. The fact that ANW is just a mask of something so G4 can sent whoever they want kinda frustrates me.
Of course.. everyone has to wait for 2 months to even see wtf I'm talking about.. even so.. they are going to have to edit alot to get past their mistakes.
And after ALL of that is said.. here is an opportunity to get a scaled down version of ANW and do it RIGHT the first time around. I mean damn.. if M9 can do it with a shoe string budget and with like a week's notice then G4 can do a show as well. The idea that there's not enough time is utterly ridiculous.

Don't act like the japanese trials were much better Arsenette I don't agree with the time either, and I don't know what the final stage is because you get more insider information than we do, but the fact is it probably won't ever be perfect and this is the best they've done competition wise so far. Whether or not it was time based or not, everyone there lost fair and square. (cept David, he got jipped)

By that logic, all 4 Stages of SASUKE should be untimed. That's not true at all. His logic says that people who clear faster aren't necessarily better than people who take more time, but are still within the time limit. The problem is that a fixed time limit is just as arbitrary as a variable time limit, and people are going to get cut off with either. You can't damn one and praise the other without it sounding like piling on, especially since Monster9 has used variable time limits for their shows before. I think you're comparing apples and oranges a bit. Monster9 is a production company dedicated to Sport/Entertainment programming. G4 is a TV network focused on Tech Culture. Granted, this iteration of ANW was fully outsourced, but without knowing who was calling what shots, the comparison still seems a little iffy.
