Okay.. someone on our boards asked a very interesting question.. I'll post it here since ya'll can probably figure it out:
I just thought of something. In Sasuke 16 40-year-old Hidenori Nagasawa (Jaguar mechanic) cleared the first stage. I think he was the oldest to clear. Bunpei is now 41. I may be wrong, but I think Bunpei now holds the record for being the oldest competitor to clear the first stage.
She sounds to be correct.. can anyone verify that?

He definite is the oldest since Akiyama's win 4. However, so many people cleared Stage 1 in Sasuke 1-3 that I'm not sure he holds the overall record.

He holds the records for post 4 and post 17 for that title. Not sure if its all time though.

If Wikipedia is to be believed (I know, I know....) the oldest was the 44 year old surfer in Sasuke 1. But since there were plenty of runs that weren't shown in the meantime, it'll probably never be known for sure by any of us.
There was a fairly old looking guy in one tournament, 4 I believe. He was a bodyguard and former member of the French Foreign Legion. Anyone know his age? Because if he was younger than that, he had not aged well.

I'm not sure how old the Foreign Legion guy in 4 was, but he had to be close to 40. No younger than late 30's, I feel.
I think the surfer (Kiyomi Inoue is his name) in 1 was probably the oldest. At least he was the oldest that we know of.

I agree, but they should probably count/ give the record to someone after 4

I don't exactly agree. What are we supposed to say - the first 4 tournaments don't count? Don't exist?
The 1st stage is the 1st stage is the 1st stage. I'm sure it was unexpected then too. People just figured it out sooner than they did the following incarnations of Stage 1. Inoue the surfer gets that record.

The 1st stage is the 1st stage is the 1st stage. While the first 4 tournaments are still Sasuke, I seriously doubt you wouldn't see a difference if you ran Stage 1 in Sasuke 1 as opposed to Stage 1 in Sasuke 21. That being said, maybe records should be held in perspective, 1-4, 5-17, and 18-present. The differences between those periods are reasonable enough to conclude them as separate entities.

I never said there wasn't a difference between 1 and 21. I said that it was still the 1st stage back then and the guy deserved the record regardless. For the record, we still don't even know that he is the oldest anyway - remember that 34 cleared Stage 1 in Sasuke 2 and 37 cleared it in Sasuke 4. But Inoue really seemed to stick right out because of his age.

Wasn't he the one who didn't notice the clock started then blazed through stage 1?

We know the ages of all 37 people in Sasuke 4. Thank JET TV for that.

Oh, that's right! Thank you, Jet TV!
....only now we would need their broadcasts of 1 and 2. If they exist. Still, 44's a tough number to beat. Not takin' away from Shiratori, though, because, let the records show, the first stage is harder than ever and to do it at 41 - while recovering from a bad back - is impressive.

41 years old, falling off a skateboard, and suffering from a bad back--I thought Sasuke was supposed to make him look young I swear Ishimaru Kenjirou is going to clear one day...and then probably have a coronary.

He's got to clear it sometime! He really don't seem like a 50-plus guy - and yet he is. Really Joe, don't joke like that, because Ishimaru does look like he's for real. He's just not had good luck (especially in 16 and 17 when he timed out on the Rope Climb BOTH TIMES!). I think he can surprise us all and do it someday. Then we'll have our new record for sure, no argument about it.

Thing is, if he beat the Flying Chute, he would have timed out again on the last obstacle. He's gotta work on getting his time just a little bit faster.

Right. If his enemy wasn't an obstacle, it was usually the time.

I think if the course remains the same, in Sasuke 23 he might finally make it to stage 2, I mean he made it to the Flying Chute on his first time on the obstacles besides the Rokudantobi and Soritatsu Kabe (The Sextuple Steps and Warped Wall were in tournaments he did good in). So its his first good try at the new course, 18 he had bad luck on the rope glider so thats not really a fair count.

I thought he failed the log grip in 18? Ionno. Why wasn't he in 19 or 20? He coulda done it in one of those! He's losing time he's not getting any younger!
