Announcer's nicknames never brought luck... first of all... Yamada Katsumi, Mr. Sasuke! we all know what happened! Levi Meeuwenberg, Mister America (aka Mistaa Americaaa)! pwned in 22 and shin cliffhanger pwnage in 23! Asaoka Hiroyuki, Sasuke Sensei! Retired! Nagasaki Shunsuke, the Trampoline Prince! Retired! Miyazaki Daisuke, Mister Handball (Mistaa Handaball)! first stage pwnage, moved to Spain, retired! Nakata Daisuke, Mr. Trampoline! Ugly car accident, serious injures, and retirement... Minoru Kuramochi! Tako Man! He never passed third obstacle!

you know, Minoru made it to the Pole Maze after the announcer gave him the nickname.
Shunsuke is just busy, not retired

I thought Miyazaki is just playing in Spain or something.

Miyazaki is on a new team in Spain, so at least for the time being, he's going to be living there full time. chances are he'll be like Shunsuke, he'd like to compete, but time wise it just isn't going to happen.

How is Levi getting to the THIRD stage in the most recent Sasuke not an accomplishment? It's the farthest he's been in a year and a half so this nickname wasn't undeserving. Naggy got the name King of Sasuke just slightly this time and look where he got.

Who happened to make it to the Final Stage once.
But Asaoka (he's 38, I think) left after Sasuke 15.
And before he was the Sasuke Sensei, wasn't that other teacher (who competed in the earlier tourneys), Katsumi Yoshinaga, called that very nickname? As I recall he only cleared stage 1 once (that was in Sasuke 7).

for "retired" I simply meant very unlikely to come back. As for Levi...I simply was so surprised because his goal was to get past the shin cliff-hanger jump, but he failed exactly before it...i didn't want to say that he did a bad run or something.

for "retired" I simply meant very unlikely to come back. Wasn't Jotchev retired too? And he's competed twice in Shin Sasuke hasn't he? Come on!Octopuses must stay in the water, and so does the Octopus! Well that's just horrible... See... you said "Octopuses" when the plural of Octopus is "Octopi"

Come on!Octopuses must stay in the water, and so does the Octopus! WHAT?!? HOW DARE YOU! But seriously, don't insult Mr. Octopus. As one of the oldest and wisest (and strongest ;D ) competitors of all time, he should be treated with much respect---especially in front of his #1 fan. I love trying to promote the goodwill of Mr. Octopus. Also, I don't know if this is another example, but in Sasuke 20, the announcer supposedly called Nagano "The Pride of Japan" according to G4's subtitles as he started his Stage 2 run, and looked what happened like 2 seconds after that. No offense to Nagano, but that must've been pretty embarrassing for him.

See... you said "Octopuses" when the plural of Octopus is "Octopi" It could be argued that it is from common usage, but 'octopi' isn't technically correct at all. It's either 'octopuses', or if you're going from the Greek, 'octopodes'.
