I seem to remember it being quite a bit longer than the Spider Flip. I agree they need to change it, it's too easy.

Did you see how drained Nagano was though?
It's probably a good thing to have those 2 rests.
A 30 second one on the spider flip, and a 30 second one on the green pipe, both wierd resting posistion though.
And the only thing inbetween those two times is a short jump followed by an even shorter climb.
So it's like payback for doing 2 1/2 obstacles in a row, you only have to do 1/2 before getting a rest.

I've got picture proof, the Heartbreaker is DEFINITLY farthur than the Spider Flip The thing those have in common, Nagano is the only person to have cleared the Heartbreaker, and no one but Nagano reached the Spider Flip and he cleared it so Nagano is the only person to ever beat both.

Heart Breaker looks anywhere from 2.5-3 meters.

Spider flip and heartbreaker are the SAME distance, both are 2 meters... The spider flip is actually HARDER because once you make it to the other side, you need to climb DOWN it and get to the bar by the gliding ring... On the heartbreaker, once you make it across you are finished... Of course, the heartbreaker had many more ledges to get the top before the jump, but ninja warrior has the jumping bars and ascending climb... Anyway, it's apples to oranges, and any of you who think the heartbreaker is "too easy" are smoking crack, after doing all those obstacles few people on this planet could get to the gliding ring... Nagano is the only one in history to do it, nuff said...

A: Then why are they differently spaced? B: Its not the Ascending Climb, its the Hang Climber. See the difference? Hang Climber: Ascending Climb: And out of those two I'd rather do the Hang Climber. And I'd respond to the "those who can make it there" but I don't want my rep going any furthur down the drain.

I think you're high rider.
Look at the different hand helds, that makes a HUUUGE difference, ask a rock climber like joe...
The hadn helds on teh ascending climb are muche asier, they actually have parts to grab onto.
onthe hang climbing obstacle (stupidest name ever BTW XD) the firs thalf of it has almost no holds at all which makes it 10x more difficult.
As for the spider jump being hard/easy.
Obviously getting to it is hard, especially after 2 other obstacles, but the actual jump is easy, I could do that jump in my sleep, Infact I probably have.
Even if I was drained like nagano I could do that jump, it's only barely harder than the arms rings, IMO.
of course I would never beat the cliff-hanger, so it doesn't matter, but if I did get to that jump, i'd make it hands down.
I could almost reach across and touch the other side... (I'm 6 foot).

Actually the Hang Climber has grips, only that picture doesn't show them well, based on Takeda and Nagano's run, those grips look deeper than the Ascending Climb ones.

Will people stop changing the name?
Until G4 "officially" says Hang Climber, the katakana reads "HANG CLIMBING."

hang climbing is honestly a terrible name, I've called it Hnag Climber purposely a few times.

Going back to the Spider Flip, obviously the jump isn't the hardest part of the obstacle, but I wouldn't say it's easy either. The hardest part is actually getting up to the jump and getting down to the green bar after the jump.
Plus, we've only seen one person do it and that's Nagano. If you only saw Nagano or Takeda's attempt at the Shin-Cliffhanger and nothing else of the new course, one could say that the Shin-Cliffhanger looks easy, maybe even easier than the previous Cliffhanger.
Looking at an obstacle like the Devil Steps, you could say you could do that in your sleep, yet when you see a professional athlete struggle and fail there, you should think otherwise. Of course, some people here will say they're a better athlete than Daisuke Miyazaki, but that a different laughable argument.

I don't think the Spider Flip is easy, but I think it's not hard enough for something that late in the third stage. If it was harder, and the Gliding Ring easier (not the jump but the sliding, just ridiculous) I think the stage would be more balanced. I doubt we'll see many Spider Flip failures... but then again I doubt we'll see too many people get there.
Edit: G4 will probably call it the Hang Climb. It's like the Wall Lift, called Wall Lifting in Japan. Either that, or they'll do a 'Bridge Of Destiny' and call it something else entirely.

I liked the original Ascending climb compared to this new version. Passing the Shin Cliff hanger is hard enough, but to make the ascending climb 10 times harder than it was originally is insane. I'm not surprised Nagano passed it but I'd still rather have it with the colored rocks.
The spider slip is something Nagano has done before on Viking so I'm not surprised he passed that either.
The final ring...jesus they really should have made the metal pole it slides on much higher because it looks even lower than the finishing mat. And that is a HUGE gap between the final ring and the mat.

Of course, some people here will say they're a better athlete than Daisuke Miyazaki, but that a different laughable argument. I could do the devil steps, but I'm in no way a better athelete than Miyazaki. He plays handball, you use your feet a lot, and you need strong legs for the running, your arms are only for throwing and passing this 1 pound ball. His psyique is built around handball, so I expected him to fail there and I think its' awesome that he even beat the salmon ladder. THe odd part is, I could probably get to the cliff-hanger in stage 3, but there's no way I could get up that salmon ladder. And IMO Brian and levi both have more upper body strength than Daisuke, but both failed at the salmon ladder... Was very odd indeed.

Looks like Miyazaki's practised the Salmon Ladder. He seems to have a technique to get up there quickly before his arms get too tired. He didn't fail the Devil Steps because of the obstacle itself, but because his arms were done by then. He almost lost it at the end of the Globe Grasp, even. The individual obstacles maybe aren't that bad, but I think people underestimate the beginning of the third stage. But maybe they don't.

Naw, I don't underestimate the begginging, ohers might, but I don't.
I never thought it was "easy" I simply said I could get to the cliff-hanger, becaue well... I can.
I practice the devil steps on my deck stairs, and I know I could do them on the course.
ARr rings are cake, and descending globe grasp isn't TOO dificult, if you get the right grip you're good, and I know the right technique to do it.
I'd be mildly tired by the cliffhanger, I'd probably reach up for the second ledge and I could probably get to the end, but I'd be too spent to pass it, even if it was the old cliffhanger I'd be close to my limit.
Me and Miyazaki are pretty close in upper body strength and speed and what not, I play soccer, he plays handball. We're pretty alike.
I wouldn't be surprised if we had the same birthday, lol.
Granted I've never tried the salmon ladder, it just looks to ridiculos for me to do, but I want to try and build one at some point.

That's reasonable. I know some people were saying 'how can you fail the steps', when the obstacle itself isn't really the issue.

It's not like it's ahrd to fail the steps...
they are draining, just not incredibly hard to do.
The point of them is to weaken you for the cliff-hanger and the other obstacles later in stage 3, not many people are expected to fail there.

That's reasonable. I know some people were saying 'how can you fail the steps', when the obstacle itself isn't really the issue. If you're talking about the AIM chat that was definitely me. I know you're tired but still it stage 3 which means you actually got that far. On to the ******** climb The ascending climb does have grips but they are small, the h* c*(not naming) seems alot easier, especially for footing.
