Isn't there a law in Japan putting a cap on game show winnings for a single appearance to 2 million yen per person?
If I understand correctly, that's part of why there are 4 friends in the "Phone a Friend" room on Quiz Millionaire, to split the 10 million yen jackpot (for that matter, anything past 2 million), and also the reason why so many people are willing to risk it for the last couple of questions.
Raising the prize to 200 million yen would be a bit... awkward.

Raising the prize to 200 million yen would be a bit... awkward. On a few Kinniku Banzuke episodes they had a 3,000,000 yen prize for the "Struck Out!" event if they hit a special small target, so I don't know about that rule
