Okay I'm running around checking what I can find on Sasuke in the Japanese boards and blogs. I run into this today: ameblo.jp/jewelryconnection/entry-10338002894.htmlParticularly this line.. : Is what I THOUGHT would happen actually happening? Where they have to qualify in Japan in order to get in Sasuke meaning that NO there is no 10 going into Sasuke? I'm utterly confused.

Sounds like 10 make it to Japan, but 10 won't make it to Sasuke. I think I called this somewhere along the line.

I've always been a tiny bit skeptical of the entire group of 10 competing in Japan. I hope whoever wrote that got some bad information.
Also, wouldn't they arrive too late in Japan to do any trials?
Does G4 even know what to expect when going to Japan?
Does anyone know how in the hell Arsenette finds these obscure links?
Does anyone know why I'm still up?

Yeah I've been skeptical as well... maybe they are doing something else over there? Muscle Park? (nah) or if they kept the Sasuke Trials course up? Agreed on the getting there too late thing which is why I was still confused by how this whole thing was working. Dunno the answer to the second question. LMFAO jfeathe I've been doing this for a year and a half under the tutelage of Ube who is a friggin' God.. I still can't find half the stuff he does.. I'm just getting better at it. LOL I'm still up because I just woke up from massive headaches... as for you.. er.. iono Oh and Joe is special

Sounds like 10 make it to Japan, but 10 won't make it to Sasuke. I think I called this somewhere along the line. Oh and yes there were a few of us from the start that found it odd that 10 were coming from USA to Sasuke. Still we have no confirmation as to wtf is going on. As much as I like a lot of the competitors of ANW/ANC.. I still think the G4 production would be overwhelming and ultimately going to alter the appearance of the show when G4 edits the show for world wide distribution. Given the overall ANW thing.. it could potentially be a good start for a USA version instead of overwhelming the original Sasuke show. Still let's see if anything comes of it.

OK. The key to this is apparently designer Ryk Maverick, the guy who designs the stuff for Starlin Gear and is mentioned by name in the post. The person is cheering Ryk on. Do any of the people who competed at the ANW thing recognize the name Ryk Maverick? Is he one of the 10? Have we just broken the Da Vinci Code? Edited to add: Holy Moly that stuff is expensive: www.starlingear.net/index2.html

If this is true, then that just means... more trials -> more footage -> more stuff to watch!!!

Personally I'm not that big on trials, I think its great for the people that are trying to get on and its great for people to get a chance, but I dont really care to watch them over and over.
Take the ANW course for example, we've all seen the hand full of videos on YT that got posted, and to me, that course was pretty plain. If it was a course where a lot of people failed and look very difficult it would be more excting to watch, but really what I saw on YT was enough for me in that regard.
Its kind of tough with trials because make it too hard and very few clear and it becomes a roulette wheel, make it too easy and it just becomes a race, also not good. I guess thats why we love the Sasuke course so much, cause they have found that perfect balance and it keeps it entertaining to watch.

As much as I would like to see all of our ANW competitors who made the cut (and then some) have their chance to run the Sasuke course, I think that having them qualify in Japan would be good for the show overall. I don't necessarily want to see G4 use the privilege of their relationship with Monster 9 to flood Sasuke with 10 U.S. competitors all in one tourny.
It hurts to say because I know how much these U.S. competitors have already gone through just to be accepted, attend, and compete in the G4 tournament (and also because I would have liked to see a lot of these folks have their chance to compete already) but I think it's wise to keep letting our participation slowly build over more tournaments.
I think it's also causing G4 to step up their commitment to Ninja Warrior which has produced better and better obstacle courses that have a lot of potential. Today they're for qualifying purposes, tomorrow who knows?

This was posted in early August. It's unlikely that some random person in Japan knew more than any of us about the American trials.
Also, going to Japan specifically for more trials and then losing would be a kick in the balls. Completely unnecessary.

This is probably just an error in translation, either that or the person writing it was mis-informed. They were very clear with us that 10 people will be competing in Sasuke. Also the winners don't fly out 'till thursday, I don't se logistically how they could fit another trials in before Sasuke, aren't the Japanese trials over by now anyway?

Trials in Japan were just one day, finished this past Sunday (the 6th).
If it's going back and forth between people there might be mistakes.
Thanks for the clarification.

Actually they reverse the dates so it was the 8th of September this was posted. Also thanks David for the clarification. As i mentioned before.. after the 5 days of trials in the USA ya'll had to go through I figured it would be a mistranslation. The other thing as well - I don't see how G4 would pay for 10 people (+however many other people they bring) just to not have them complete the course. I still don't like 10 ANW going but that's just me I'll keep checking to see wtf was up with this post because it's just so ridiculously odd that this came out with a specific name, at this time, with ANW attached... or the person lost and they are trying something else.

Well I think it's ok for me to say that I did see that guy at the event in LA. Of course I can't say if he made the team or not.

From what it sounds like to me by what this woman wrote.. he might have missed his chance at qualifying (since it specifically says he had to qualify and we know ANW people already did) and was going to see if he can be invited by M9 (as a celeb jewelry maker) which he does have a chance.. Let's see what happens. Won't be holding my breath though.

Maybe this is an answer: "If Morris is picked as one of the 10 finalists, he will get an all-expense paid trip to Japan to tackle Sasuke, the world's most difficult and diabolical obstacle course. The American competitor who completes all four stages of Sasuke in the fastest time will be named the ultimate "American Ninja Warrior." A film crew will accompany contestants to record their efforts for a G4 reality show to air in the fall." www.tmcnet.com/usubmit/2009/08/22/4335290.htm (source)
