Why does the livestation stream only give you a 2-minute preview?

Why does the livestation stream only give you a 2-minute preview? You need to sign up at livestation.com and then add TBS to your profile.

if anybody prefers, you can access the direct feed from livestation @ mms://stream.gundam.eu/tbs. i actually prefer it over livestation since no extra software needed, you can watch it in most media players, and i can also watch it on my xbox. This doesn't seem to be working now.

It does now. Is it kind of an on and off thing? Also, why does it go on and off? Sorry about all these questions

Sorry about all these questions I don't know if it's still the case.. but it's because TBS isn't one of the official Livestation stations and it's someones own stream.. When that person isn't streaming it there isn't anything to see. (Well you could watch the dead air but I think that'd be pretty boring..)

Hmm.. could you be region blocked? I know at some point Ube was region blocked for another program.. wasn't sure if Livestation was affected by that..

I've already done both of these and it's still giving me a 2-minute preview only. Advice anyone? Silly question, but you're using the downloaded Livestation player, right? The one on the site only ever shows a preview. If you're already doing this, then try the direct stream at mms://stream.gundam.eu/tbs I've never watched a competition live so I don't know how to work any of this... I have TVants and Keyhole but can someone help me how to use TVants (keyhole is easy...) You're in the UK like me, so you'll probably have to set up a proxy. These can be found here. To set it up, in TVAnts go to Tools at the top, then Settings, the Proxy tab, tick both the boxes and go to Add at the bottom. You need to change the type to Socks5. The format listed on the site is IP:Port, so if the proxy was 24.127.182.87:46483, enter 24.127.182.87 under Host and 46482 under Port. Nothing else is needed. I'd recommend adding a few with the highest uptime, but TVAnts hasn't been working for me very regularly, so you'll have to be persistent. If it's all working correctly, a channel list should show up under the Search tab. Sometimes I have to reset it a couple of times. Also, make sure TVAnts is allowed both incoming and outgoing by your firewall if you have one.

Is it just me or is the TBS stream on Livestation not working right now? I tried putting the stream URL into Windows Media Player, but that wasn't able to connect either.
It was all working just yesterday for me. So could the stream just be down temporarily? Also, I just checked on Keyhole TV and that seems to be working.

Without livestation, my back is up against the wall. So, I will be trying tvants again.
I also just want to clarify that TBS WILL for sure be one of the four URLs listed in the firt post.
And lastly, can someone explain what a proxy is before I need to "do/download" one. Is it only necessary if a virus protection program blocks me from downloading it?
Sorry for being an a**. I just want to be certain.
And to think I'm considering a computer science major...

Computer Science doesn't really delve so much into networking stuff. You can if you want to make that your specialty or if you want to work a job that focuses on networks.
Anyway, a proxy is kind of like a middleman; It let's you connect to a server without having to connect directly to it, whether it be for security purposes or so it doesn't slow down the server or because you somehow can't connect to the main server. You connect to the proxy and the proxy gets whatever it is you need from the server.
I'm sure there's more to it, but that's all I know. You can check the Wiki or something if it's tickled your fancy.

Apparently it's NTV at the moment, so looks like I'll have to add another one to the list. Usually, though, if TVAnts is working properly, you'll be able to receive a channel list anyway. Also, none of the Japanese channels are working for me at the moment.

Ok, so I got tvants working with no problem.
Is the loading time for each channel supposed to be like 3-5 minutes or am I doing something wrong?
Thank you all for all your help. You guys and girls are amazing!
