With September approaching, SASUKE 23 and KUNOICHI 8 are right around the corner. No matter where you live, you can watch these tournaments live, when they air in Japan on TBS and months before G4 will broadcast them. Both tournaments will only be shown ONCE, that means no re-runs. So if you miss them, you will have to rely on others that hopefully recorded it. There are a few, completely free options available for everyone.
I'd like to use this thread for troubleshooting and any updates to any other live streams. Info about live chats could go here. Also, if I'm forgetting something, reply below. This way we have one thread about this.
***STATUS*** (as of 8am JST)
Working. Stream occassionally down, but not usually during the hours we're interested in.
Download the latest version here.
Download and install Tvants and for most, your ready to go.
NOTE: TBS is currently labeled on Tvants as Japan>NTV. However, the channels and their names get changed frequently and without warning. Check here for the latest update.
However, for some, no channels will pop up. Thanks to obakemono, this can be easily fixed. You will need to set up a couple of proxies.
EDIT: Since the channel names switch around so much, and to prevent this part having to be edited every time, here's a list of the locations of all the current Japanese channels. Enter it as a URL in your browser with TVAnts installed.
TBS:

Reliable Socks5 proxies:
aliveproxy.com/socks5-list/
To add a proxy go to Tools, Settings, Proxy, Add, enter the IP under Host and enter the port, and make sure to change the Type to Socks5.
For other problems, try to google it first. Most likely, it is a simple solution. Also, make sure that your firewall isn’t blocking tvants, ingoing or outgoing.
You can record the stream using VLC or hidownload.
The way to record through VLC is found here:
The HiDownload way can be found here:
The quality is good and has minimal buffering. When it does buffer, the stream picks up right where you left off.
Pros:
*Highest quality free version out there.
*Ability to record the stream using VLC.
Cons:
*About a minute behind keyholetv (only problem if you are in a chat room for the tournaments)
*Can be a hassle to get working if it doesn’t work properly at first.
*Long loading time.
The website is found here.
***STATUS*** (as of 8am JST)
Down, has been for some time. Unlikely to be an option.
In order to watch the stream, you will need to sign up (free) for an account at livestation.com and then sign in. Once you are signed in, you can watch TBS by adding the TBS channel found here to your profile.
After that, you can watch the TBS player through the livestation application.
Additionally, you can watch TBS in most video players by opening this URL:
mms://stream.gundam.eu/tbs
You can stream/record from livestation like Tvants. The walkthrough for that is here.
Pros:
*Good quality stream
*Very quick loading time
*Easy to stream/record
Cons:
*Slighty less quality than tvants
*Not guarenteed to work. (Livestation was available right up to Sasuke 22, but then was unavailable during the actual broadcast.
***STATUS*** (as of 8am JST)
Down, has been for some time. Unlikely to be an option.
The website is found here:
In order to watch the stream, you will also need Microsoft Silverlight. You can find that here:
The stream is of good quality, slightly less than tvants, and about a minute off of keyhole. There tends to be a lot of buffering problems, especially in the beginning.
In order to log in, you will need a code. Some are below. If none of them work, PM either me or obakemono and we will give you a code.

Pros:
*Good quality stream, good alternative to tvants
*Fairly reliable stream
Cons:
*Buffering problems, buffers about every 30 seconds for some
*Slightly less quality than tvants
***STATUS*** (as of 8am JST)
Working. Unreliable as a watching option, almost unwatchably choppy with lots of users online.
Download the latest version here:
Download keyhole for whatever OS you have. Install, run and your done.
TBS is listed as “TBS”.
The quality is youtube quality at best. At worst, it will look like a slideshow and will only show a picture every few seconds. The audio should still be in tact though.
Pros:
*Closest live stream to actually watching it on TV
*Very easy to set up and watch
Cons:
*Terrible quality (1-10 fps)
*Tends to crash or freeze when a lot of people are watching
*No way to record/save the stream
***STATUS***
Should be fine as long as TVAnts is.
For users that cannot get Tvants working, but still want a fairly high quality, solid stream, go to www.livestream.com/supernovamaniac
Supernovamaniac set up a stream for SASUKE 22 and plans to do the same for 23.
Pros:
Good, reliable back up plan if you can’t get tvants to work and don’t want to settle for keyholetv.
Fairly good video and audio quality.
Cons:
Slighty less quality than tvants
Choppy feed at times.
~1.5-2 minutes behind tvants (only problem if you are in a chat room for the tournaments)
***STATUS*** (as of 1:30pm JST)
USELESS. Tried the free trial, doesn't come with TBS.
As a last resort, there is a paysite which offers a free one day trial of its service.
www.nippontv.biz
The Google-translated version of the signup page can be found HERE.
I think www.tvjapan.us offers the same service, but I can't find it on their site.
Pros:
*Potentially highest quality.
*Recordable? Not sure.
Cons:
*Untested.
