Tell me what you guys think. Going to send it in the mail to Japan on Monday, since I wasn't home today.
I know its a little rushed, but I did that all in the last few days. What do I need to include in whatever I send to Monster9? That dvd, a pic, I guess a letter about myself, and?
If there's more that I could add, tell me, since I have tomorrow to add what I need (within reason of course [so no rushing to build a salmon ladder in a day]).
Edit: last minute didn't get uploaded, so I'll get that up asap

If you are American, then they will reject it.

Yeah I'm not sure they're accepting American applicants directly anymore. If they are, then I think they'll be looking for TV value rather than skill.

Decent showing, but yeah they might not accept you, even if they understand you're not eligible for ANC.

obakemono is correct.
Check up with theamazingoti. He submitted through TBS last year, but was rejected due to G4.

Honestly, the whole G4 lock on the USA isn't absolute. But if TBS is going to select an American, it won't be based on skill. Rather, it will be based on TV value like obakemono said. If you bring something unique to the table, like a quirky profession, it might work and you might get a single digit slot along with the other quirky profession competitors. But you need something really special to even get noticed.

I know that my odds of getting in are 1,000,000-1. And in all honesty, I did this last minute on a whim, so idc if I go or not. Just entering 'cuz I can.
I woulda put some footage of me at a PL meet or some bjj/mma matches, but I don't have any footage. :/
I can only think of 2 angles to play up if I tried for that. One would be the stereotypical Texas cowboy. The other would have to be the super student; showing me double majoring in college, former Mensa member/triple 9 member, multiple time runner up for academics competitions in the state of Texas, etc. And except for boosting my ego, none of that matters anymore or makes for good tv.
But whatever. Like I said, I don't care. And who knows if I'll still even care about this in 3 years when I can compete through G4. Better to try now than not at all.

That sounds cool I'm sure they would like the Texas Cowboy and the super student Heck.. with the amount of complaining we have been doing around here emailing the hell out of M9 it wouldn't surprise me if someone got through to them. Good luck and let us know how it turns out!

Good luck and let us know how it turns out! Thanks for the well wishes. Who knows, maybe they are looking for a not-so-stereotypical nerd. ;D And even if I only made it to the trials (which is still farther than I expect to make it), I've always wanted to visit Japan. So many cool things there.

Two things.
1. Excellent choice of music 2. A pullup only counts when you pull your chin over the bar.
I really liked the music. Very motivational, it showed that you were serious.

Yeah, that was another thing. The pull ups should be all the way, and without using your legs at all.

He wasn't touching the ground, just kicking up. Though yeah, he didn't have his chin above the bar from what I could tell.

I know. If you want to show strength then you shouldn't use momentum from your legs.

Why did you remove the video?

I just decided I wasn't going to bother with sending anything in. When I get around to it, I'll re-upload some parts of the video that I liked, like the Pullup+80lbs x3, Dips +100lbs x10, 10' 2" broad jump, etc.
I think my choice to not send anything in, and thus taking the video down came down to the fact that I think I like the IDEA of competing and going through M9. I'm just not sure it'd be practical for me to try right now.

According to some e-mails I got from M9, you're wrong.

According to some e-mails I got from M9, you're wrong. I'm not. Michael Milner, SASUKE 20 (who I know you know as you have his video on your site) competed and wore a low number. At the same time, this guy was trying to get on, but got emails very similar to yours: forums.g4tv.com/showthread.php?t=19401

I asked M9 about Michael and why he was allowed to compete without using G4. I was told he competed before they made that rule official.
It's set in stone now, unfortunately.

There was another non-G4 competitor in 21. I think they're probably unlikely to accept anyone, but there's always a chance, especially if you're really really persistent.
