Looks like it was worth doing!
That's a decent sum, just under £7000 apparently.

They appear to be hyping a final stage appearance and possibly even victory, although it's super vague:

I've never been a big TV watcher, but I don't actually have one set up in my student flat, so I live entirely off BBC iPlayer for David Attenborough and Northern Irish comedy.
I may explore the ITV equivalent for the final of Ninja Warrior UK, but I'm very busy with animation deadlines right now.

In the most recent chapter of My Hero Academia (raw, so contains minor spoilers for those keeping up with the anime or official release), there was a SASUKE reference! Attachment DeletedAt the school festival, that is definitely Bakugo going up a Warped Wall as part of an obstacle course. They've even got the buzzer. I wonder if Horikoshi watches SASUKE now (especially given the First Stage layout in 35) or if this is more of a memory from the past? [\spoiler]

Caught the last half of the first episode.
Less dumb comedy than usual, though it may have been at the start. Some obscene jumping obstacle in the first stage means no women are going to pass this ever.
They did at least introduce the previous last-men-standing as competitors, so they may finally be trying to keep some competitor consistency/recognisability.
All-in-all, quite a bit more enjoyable than the last episode I watched (all the way back in Season 1??), but still has all the stupid trappings of the American format (not that I expected it to change)

A nice one would be of Yasuo Aoki, Minoru Kuramochi, Masami Harashima, Katsuhide Torisawa and Tomihiro Tatsukawa, simliar to the kanzenseiha one. A nice homage to the best joke competitors. That's a cool idea, though I can say it won't appear for a while yet! Also, somewhat tangental, but my recent entry for the Character Design Challenge on Dragons and Dragonriders may have drawn a bit of inspiration from a couple of SASUKE competitors.... I was messing around recently and found out I am almost exactly the same height and weight as both Nagano and Morimoto, so in theeeory if I got super buff and actually trained I could beat the whole shebang.
Actually? Even in SASUKE 1, if I don't make a spectacular flop off something in Stage 1 I'm getting ban-hammered by the wall lifting, as I currently have the constitution of a wet paper towel. So I'm not beating Stage 3 ever.

After what happened back in October... Kishida... maybe draw him? Certainly. I wasn't overly familiar with him though, so if you have any recommendations on pictures to draw from, that would be very helpful.

Wow, I was so slow the thread became 'super dead'! (Final year animation is not to be under-estimated) Attachment Deleted(Holy moly tiny thumbnail, click to see at a regular size! Now with added Tumblr link for individual viewing: arbuthnotblob.tumblr.com/post/172864584564/more-sasuke-portraits-this-time-a-collection)Immediately before 35 aired I started drawing Morimoto's victory from SASUKE 31, and then decided to make it a whole set! So here we have the immediate aftermath of all 5 Kanzenseiha victories, taken from after the buzzer has been hit, but before the obligatory interview. Akiyama was particularly tough as SASUKE 4 has potato quality footage, so I had to make a lot of his detail up. Yuuji meanwhile was just determined to pull the most unflattering facial expressions, so I tried to be kind! Reviewing the thread, the sketch list now looks like this: Kanno, Shinya, Yamada, Shunsuke, Mr Octopus and Kong (who is technically done, check the SASUKE 35 board for him!)

I actually quite like Darvish as a competitor, he's competent, pretty consistent and clearly takes the course seriously. If anything he's somewhat analogous to Kane Kosugi (albeit with not as good a track record or nearly as many general fans) and I don't see anyone complaining about his screen time in the early shows.
As others have said, he isn't the one in control of the edit and if the funding and existence of modern SASUKE depends on celebrity competitors being shown I'd much rather have Darvish over nearly all previous people to occupy that spot. Is anyone going to tell me they'd prefer Hiromichi Sato?

Still going good, have yet to go out before the merger! *jinxes it*
If there's another, I'm still game.

I've been thinking, and while I actually support the current Stage 2 (it does its job, and back stream actually has a purpose now as Tackle 2.0), it is a bit slow. What if, like how the original final stage was brought back for SASUKE 25-27, the original salmon ladder came back round, along with floating boards? It would be faster, still a newbie killer, and probably still able to trip people up with both boards in the set, unlike the Rising version... Saying that, I wouldn't mind if chain reaction came back either, always liked that obstacle, it looked fun! The Stage Three Floating Boards? Gah, no! I got mixed up. I meant the Unstable Bridge. But it has boards in it, so I called it the wrong thing!

I cannot believe I didn't notice... Some Pokemon fan I am. Talking of details to notice, I was going back over SASUKE 16 for something, and... are they still using the same heaters over 10 years later?? Attachment Deleted
