I feel like the writer's strike is gonna revive more of these reality shows. I'm surprised they haven't imported Takeshi's Castle or American Gladiators yet. Hasn’t that been over?

Hey guys,
I’ve been doing a new series where I make a new obstacle every Monday to go along with the ANW season. Would love you to check it out and/or give feedback. Here’s the playlist:

Hopefully Fox actually does something with this in America. It is prime time to do so with the Writer's Strike happening right now. Yeah but that was almost five years ago at this point, I doubt it. If they do go on with it and want me (unlikely), they’re going to need to cope with the fact that I was 16 in the video I made and 20 now

I get that argument, but it still seems weird that thereve been numerous close finishes, but none have been winning efforts. Like obviously for Nagano’s near misses, he was capable of winning - but didn’t (until 17 obviously). In fact, pretty much everyone with a really near miss (less than a second, let’s say) is prob capable of winning at that time.
Just seems weird cos if there have been many close cuts, but all have turned out to be losses.

I see it, but I also think there are other equally strange things in other tournaments. Still weird though!

Could they make the description sound a bit better? Sounds like they’re selling their show short…

I can not believe all the hype about winning 50k, and they gave the winner 25k. What absolute greed - the executive producer and producers are so greedy ! You can tell this was just a cash grab for Sly and his money grabbers, 10k for winning an episode ! OMG - that prize money is worse than something in the 1980s. Then 25k unless you get to the top ? Unbelievable. This was before everything cost 20x more.

What?? I think it’s been really cool, I mean it’s at least a new spin on promoting the show and yeah it’s clearly just because this is a special tournament number-wise. I think they’re pretty good, wish they’d feature some of the one-offs obstacles, but that’s nitpicking. I think it’s pretty clearly a countdown to Sasuke 40 itself seeing the pace they are going at. Each to their own, but I think the main gripe is that for hardcore fans who’ve seen every tournament in full, it just doesn’t add anything to what we’ve seen already, besides slightly better quality. However I do admit this is a very selfish point of view. I can see why they’re doing it to please the majority of fans who likely haven’t seen a lot of said footage and may need a recap on past tournaments. Oh yeah, I get you there. I'm a longtime fan, but for whatever reason I've never really been able to see the older ones in full (just occasionally the G4 edits when they air them), so this is a lot of new (or at least very unfamiliar as it's been years) stuff for me. I honestly wish they'd be longer, but I get that the whole point is to be quick. But if I'd seen all the tournaments in full and stuff I would probably feel like you do. I have noticed they're getting lazier with the highlights in the past couple edits and just showing a few full runs that clear and not really featuring the fail montages and stuff. Still enjoying it though. I also think it's interesting that they uploaded a clip of Jessie on the Sidewinder today. I'm glad, just surprised as I always thought they didn't like foreigners competing.

I agree with you on most stuff you wrote there dakohosu, great analysis, but on him not accepting the reruns I'm not sure. I think at least in 18 he wanted to keep it "pure" and since what happened was essentially his doing, he didn't feel he should go again. Although it could also be true that he didn't want to win a second straight tournament. I could see that making it all mean less to him if he dominated twice in a row. 21 might be a different story, but even then I feel like he was being a purist more than anything. Then it makes sense that he (rightfully) argued it in 23. I know the feeling - even when a failure isn't really your fault, it means less when you make it on your rerun.
Just my two cents, I really like your explanation though.

I'm feeling extremely upset and angry today cos I just rewatched the run of Keitaro Yamamoto failing the Rolling Log at the start of Stage Two and not making it to Stage Three.

You’re not missing anyone. Only Isaac and Drew have won the million. Also the brittian guy he was the first to beat the tower but did it slower than Isaac. But he didn’t win the million.

Say what you will about pointless one-offs like the Net Bridge or even pointless things they kept around for awhile, I miss the time when there was the potential for these random obstacles to just be introduced and pulled quickly for any reason aside from an injury/copyright (as the TIE Fighter was).
Now you basically get the same course every time with the occasional obstacle imported directly from America or just a new twist on what’s basically still the same obstacle.

That’s one of the things I dislike about the show the most. They don’t really emphasize these changes that a viewer couldn’t tell the difference with. You just assume it’s the exact same obstacle as previous. Same with the ultimate cliffhanger. Might be the exact same layout but the ledges can be different sizes from previous years. Agreed, but I think this is largely because the changes are normally done to “secretly” make something easier.

It’s interesting to imagine. I think it might have sped up the climb in difficulty as they would’ve gone hard for Sasuke 2 to make sure no one won it as well. But it’d probably affect the next five or so tournaments and then generally return to the difficulty trends we had around Sasuke 7 or 8. The courses would probably all be different than what they’ve been in terms of lineup, but I doubt the difference would be huge now (and Sasuke 18/28 kind of reset it anyway).

Final time this season doing this. Not sure if I'll do it again next season. Also, "Just two ninjas have won the $1 million on Stage 4". I guess they've officially struck winner #2 from the history books. Weren't the two Isaac and Drew? Daniel Gil is a "winner," but if memory serves, that was on the unusual Season 12, and he only won 100K, not one million. Who is the third million dollar winner that I'm forgetting? I don’t think (like I’m 99.99% sure) you’re missing anything. I’ve noticed a weird trend where people like to mention how Drew counts/doesn’t count/shouldn’t count where it’s not relevant. Also don’t understand the argument of claiming they should change the number of winners when they don’t even reference him by name. Seems like people getting worked up over nothing TBH.

Matt said only 2 ninjas have ever won the million dollars. Going into Stage 4, he said before that night we've had 5 ninjas total in 13 seasons make it there. So... What? It’s true. Why wouldn’t they say that?

I don't think there has been any evidence at all to backup the Yamada - Yuuji shoe controversy. Oh whoops I was talking about how Jun Sato pointed at his p3n1s after flipping off the camera😂
