The second season of Ninja Warrior España finished airing yesterday. The format was the same as the first season, but this time there were five qualifying heats each featuring 40 competitors where the top 15 moved on to the qualifying final and the top 5 there moved on to the finals.
This season, they changed how they defined "farthest the fastest" fixing my biggest issue from last season. Last season they would clock a competitor at the time they failed an obstacle while this season they ordered all the competitors who failed an obstacle by the time they arrived to it. The old rule hurt hurt competitors who went far into an obstacle before failing such as Iris Matamoros who went farther than anyone else last season by making it all the way to the fourth rung of the Flying Bar. He didn't win though since Sergio Verdasco fell on the first rung in a shorter time.
One rule I still have an issue with is that if something a competitor is wearing falls off and lands in the water, they are disqualified. One competitor was disqualified after his glasses fell off on the Rolling Log. I don't see the point of this rule so long as it is very clear that the item was detached from the competitor when it landed in the water.
This season the final stage was only 20m as opposed to the 22m tower last year. The time limit is 25s. Below are the finals results.

{Finals Results}5 out of the 25 finalists completed Stage 1 including all three who made it to the Flying Bar last year. Sergio Verdasco, last year's last man standing, failed the jump to the second ladder of the Double Salmon Ladder in Stage 2. 3 of the 5 reached the second part of Stage 2. Iris Matamoros, a 37 year old physical education teacher who made it the farthest last season, failed the Cliffhanger. Javier Cano, a 27 year old climbing instructor, failed the Flying Bar. Éric López, a 26 year old climber who made it to the Flying Bar last season, cleared the second part of Stage 2 becoming the last man standing and the second European to reach the Final Stage after France's Thomas Ballet. Like Ballet, Éric López came up short of total victory when he timed out about 14 meters up the 20 meter Rope Climb.
