The first season of Ninja Warrior Hungary finished airing last week. It was filmed in Budapest on the same set as Ninja Warrior Austria. The format was the same as Ninja Warrior Italia and Ninja Warrior Germany season 2. There were six qualifying heats each featuring 55 competitors where the top 25 moved on to the qualifying final and the top 15 there moved on to the semi-finals. The top 20 of the 90 in the semi-final moved on to the finals.
Out of all of the spin-offs so far, I felt like this one had the best editing and pacing. None of the runs of the 330 competitors were cut from the broadcast and yet the show didn't feel rushed or start to drag and get repetitive. Since none of the runs were cut we did get to see quite a few injuries. There were 5 times when someone advancing to the next round had to withdraw due to injury. Each time the best non-advancing woman replaced them as a wildcard. The worst of the injuries occurred when Szabó Peti came up short on the Warped Wall and fell backwards landing on his foot resulting in an open ankle fracture. Below is a video of the injury. His full run can be found in episode 5.
The finals course was the same as Ninja Warrior Austria's after the fourth obstacle. The first part of the second stage however had its time limit reduced by 10 seconds. Because of the venue, the final stage was only 20m as opposed to the usual 23m for the European spin-offs. Even though it is shorter, the time limit is still 30s. Russia's final stage will also be 20m. Below are the finals results.
