Just like with X Warrior, I have stumbled across a new show on none other than Wikipedia.
After some followup digging and research, it appears that it was announced in December, casting already happened in January with a major casting call/tryouts in Madrid January 13th, and the show should be on its way to filming soon!
Airing on the network Atresmedia

Legit? or another rip off? LOL I saw two articles claiming it was officially licensed from TBS via The Story Lab, so assuming those articles are correct it is 100% official. I suppose it just slipped under the radar when it was announced originally because all the relevant content was in Spanish and didn't really reach English outlets.

Sounds like this will be another Ninja Warrior UK To be fair this is the same Spain that when they dubbed Ninja Warrior they spent all of Nagano's episode where he won Sasuke 17 questioning what kind of man lives at sea for 300 days.. he's probably a virgin or gay.. yeah.. that Spain. LOL

Ratings: If this page is to be believed (I found it being retweeted) then Ninja Warrior España was 1st in the ratings. Ratings: 18.4% share (I'm assuming of total viewers for the night) Viewers 2.567 Million! Apparently regionally they got higher numbers: Madrid (22%), Aragón (21,5%), Andalucía (21%), Valencia (20,8%) o Castilla-La Mancha (20,7%). And had a peak of 3.142 milion and 21% share. In other news: So.. they have week to week winners?

So.. they have week to week winners? They are using the same format as Germany. In each heat the top 15 move on to the heat finals which is shown in the same episode. Out of those 15 the top 6 move on to the finals course.

This pic killed any interest I had in Nina Warrior Espana. It has UK written all over it.

The first season finished airing yesterday. All season they have had a weird way of interpreting "furthest the fastest." If multiple people failed the same obstacle, those who failed the fastest would move on. In the second semi-final, where the top 6 of 15 move on, 9 of the first 14 failed the first obstacle (Downhill Pipe Drop). The one who went last could have guaranteed himself a spot in the finals by diving right into the water when his run began failing faster than the other 9. He didn't do this and instead finished the course with the fastest time, but the fact that he could have hopefully will get them to switch to one of the more logical ways of determining "furthest the fastest" if a second season happens. {Finals Results}14 out of the 24 finalists completed Stage 1 and only 4 reached the second part of Stage 2. Sergio Verdasco, Iris Matamoros, and Eric López made it to the Flying Bar in the second part of Stage 2. Sergio and Eric failed the first jump. Iris, by making it to the fourth rung, went farther than anyone has in the European spin-offs to date. This was not enough however due to the "furthest the fastest" determination discussed above. Sergio Verdasco won the €30,000 prize and became the last man standing since he failed at 5:42.6 while Iris and Eric failed at 8:36.1 and 7:23.1 respectively. Since their rests have been edited I'm not sure who finished the Cliffhanger the fastest or who reached the Flying Bar the fastest.
