I was thinking who I would consider the rookie of the year for each season of ANW. I feel pretty confident of 5-8, but I'm not sure about 1-4. A lot of the best competitors started in ANW 2 or 3. ANW 4: Brian Arnold ( ) cause he made it to stage 2 ANW 5: Joe Moravsky ANW 6: Kevin Bull ANW 7: Tie-Daniel Gil, Nicholas Coolridge ANW 8: Josh Levin The other interesting fact is each of these RoY's had their best year in their second outing and were on Team USA. Makes it interesting to wonder of Josh Levin will do in ANW 9.

ANW1 technically Levi but if we're being technical and including Sasuke experience since ANW1-3 were Sasuke trials then Rich King. Only newcomer to beat Stage 1 ANW2 probably Brent for making it to the UCH. ANW 3 James McGrath was probably most notable newcomer based on his result There now you have a more complete list As for ANW4 while Brian made stage 2 he failed balance tank, if I remember correctly that one guy who's name I forget but he had Japanese heritage and did Taiko, he ran in Venice and made it to the Metal Spin if I remember correctly, he probably was newcomer of the year for ANW4 if we're going for best rookie result

I know Derek got the best time on Stage 1, but I thought he failed somewhat early in Stage 2, like the DSL. Maybe I'm forgetting but he's definitely up there.
He failed the Hang Move in qualifying the next year and then disappeared off the face of the planet. o.O

Yeah that was him, I think he competed in ANW5 but got caught up on the Floating Chains and didn't compete after that, but he definitely was rookie of the year for ANW4

ANW 3 James McGrath was probably most notable newcomer based on his result James McGrath wasn't technically a rookie (failed in City Qualifying in season 2). The best result for a true rookie would be Jake Smith making it to the Double Salmon Ladder.

I guess that's one of the reasons we asked who the hell he was Also it wasn't "city qualifying", it was just called Qualifying then

Im pretty sure when rewatching through ANW 2 before, like a few months ago, I never saw him shown, so he most likely got cut being a random guy at the time failing early. I think he failed the quad steps, atleast according to what sasukepedia says which can be unreliable

He auditioned for ANW3 and did not get selected, but he ran the course as a walk on.

Can't remember if he was a call or a walk-on for that.

It's tough to tell because they obviously edit to set up a certain storyline. I mean, you totally destroyed the St. Louis course two years ago and only got a digest. Gil is young which is probably why he got all the attention (he's good of course too). But I guess if we could separate Regionals and Finals I think Coolridge was the RoY for Regionals and Mike Myers was the RoY for the finals.

The big question is whether he can do it in the same night he has ti run Stage Two. Stage Three was too much for Sean McColl this year after Stage Two. Their skill sets are similar. although I think Josh does do some obstacle training.
