I think one way NBC could have both new and old on the show is similar to the National Ninja League Qualifiers. Basically, choose a main gym for each region, like Apex for LA, or Iron Sports for Oklahoma, and have a course consisting of 10-20 obstacles. Then, the top 15 competitors in that event get to compete in the qualifiers. This seems like it could be really unorganized, but honestly this is just to do the frickin qualifier. Otherwise, you get chosen based on a 3 minute video. I think this would ensure that those who are physically deserving of being on the show can compete, but tbh NBC's never going to do this. Having Matt at one of the qualifiers boosts hopes a little, but it's still incredibly far-fetched.

People have been suggesting that for ages for walk ons... it's not a viable option... too many variables and issues with unofficial competitions being used for official purposes... not to mention unfair advantage to people familiar with the gym

And it's a qualifier of a qualifier. I'm sure if that were the case they'd have walk ons in every gym again. Besides, they are there for stories, not always physical ability. This is casting for a TV show people forget.

Does anyone know when tickets are going on sale or why they haven't already?

This is casting for a TV show people forget. Yep. It's never happening. It would just be a better way to make sure deserving veterans who got snubbed would be able to prove they deserve to compete. But try telling that to NBC.

I wouldn't wish that on my worst enemy.

Last thing I'll say on the subject, because I have no idea what the competitors really go through, or what NBC goes through...
I think that NBC should extend some kind of olive branch to veterans who apply, but don't make the cut. For example, arranging for transportation to the finals to watch them. Might get pricey if the number of vets get too high, and it might seem to be a slap in the face ("Hey, you can't compete...but maybe you want to watch someone else achieve the goal you wanted?"), but at least it would show SOME appreciation to the vets.

f***ing bulls**t that they snub the hardcore vets that work their a**es off whereas lying conmen with no skill like one Ralph are gladly invited. NBC does this showmanship BS with all their shows.... Biggest Loser is product placement sob story time...

What are some obstacles you guys are expecting to see here. I've noticed a trend of taking the 5th obstacle from last year's qualifying and making a harder version of it after the salmon ladder. Taking that they have already used the swinging spikes and the I-beam cross as 5th obstacles this year, the only other 5th obstacles left are the tilting ladders (don't see that coming back) and the Devil Steps.
I'm thinking we'll see the Tilting Slider (from Kansas City) as the second obstacle, a variation on the dancing stones for the balance obstacle, and probably a cliffhanger as the 9th.

I know you can't say much but does this mean you're down there already?

I can see the Mini Silk Slider and the Paddleboards being there, as well as maybe the Globe Grasper.

Yeah, I was thinking at first they might bring back Snake Crossing, but that was in essentially the same region so they wouldn't do that. I'm hoping (as a viewer) they might make a version of the Vertical Limit as the 9th obstacle, but they're probably saving it for Vegas.

(sorry for all the posts) but I just realized there hasn't been a body prop yet. So that's almost guaranteed (with at least one vertical section).

Yeah, I was thinking at first they might bring back Snake Crossing, but that was in essentially the same region so they wouldn't do that. Due to the ridiculously high failure rate and the fact they had to work on the obstacle throughout the night, both adjusting and repairing damage (the most significant damage coming from an ATS tester who broke it after checking one of the adjustments) I think it's safe to say we'll likely never see Snake Crossing ever again in any region lol

Hourglass Drop returned modified and in a different spot that's reserved for big killers, also it wasn't a construction nightmare

Nope. 9th obstacles should be forearm blasters from now on, ones that tire you out for the Invisible Ladder, and we've had it three years in a row, not to mention you have to adjust it for every competitor. I would also doubt the Vertical Limit shows up in Vegas.
