A. Smith & Co. (the people who make American Ninja Warrior) announced that they are rebooting American Gladiators. (Source)The article states that they will be modernizing the show (no idea what that entails). There's no other news known at this time. Personally, I'm excited and cautious. I had a lot of issues with the 2008 series, but I still liked it because American Gladiators is awesome. You have to go out of your way to completely ruin an American Gladiators reboot. That said, I'm afraid they may turn AG even more into a reality show than a game show (see ANW compared to NW). That said, as long as Assault is in this version, it'll be impossible for me to completely hate it.

The 2008 version of American Gladiator was my first experience with the show and I thought it was pretty well done.
"Darker, more modern direction" as we all know could mean anything. However, when it comes to unexpected reboots like this, I'll take almost anything resembling the original.

I never watched the original show, all I know is Evan Dollard was on it. I look forward to the reboot!

A. Smith & Co. (the people who make American Ninja Warrior) announced that they are rebooting American Gladiators. (Source)ANW 6 is A. Smith & Co.'s last run as the production company. They're being replaced by "A. Deign & Co.," which is owned/operated by NBC's "Executive In Charge of Talent," Angelou Deign; essentially bringing ANW completely into NBC's fold for both production and broadcast. I never watched the original show, all I know is Evan Dollard was on it. I look forward to the reboot! The "original" aired from 1989 till 1996. Evan Dollard was a part of the 2008 reboot. This will be the 2nd reboot, making it the third time the show has been made (assuming it works out and actually gets made).

I didn't realize they were being replaced. May explain why they're moving their focus to American Gladiators.

I'm not sure if they're completely being replaced unless you have some info that I don't, but A. Deign & Co. was already working with NBC for ANW6, I can prove this but I don't feel it's safe to give out the actual link since it includes the mailing address to send the release form to so here's a screencap...

Deign & Co. could take over from A. Smith & Co. for ANW 7? Guess we'll find out soon enough anyway.

As long as it doesn't turn into Hip Show: Arena Combat, then I'm interested.

I found an episode of the show in Russian on YouTube. It was really boring and really dumb. Parkour and MMA do not mix.
