Applications are out for the first ever Ninja Warrior Sweden. Seems they are scaling back NWE a bit and starting in individual countries to be able to expand better from there. That's a smart idea as doing something so ambitious as a large scale event with multiple countries as a debut is just crazy. Once I get more detailed information I will do a blog on that. For now, feel free to spread the word.

Limited to Swedes only, or would the FinCliffers be able to rock the competition? (Apologies in advance: I haven't run this through Google Translate yet.)
EDIT: Well, Google Translate has "Sweden's first Ninja Warrior!" But, maybe...

Do you know if this competition is limited to Sweden only? Or would people from other European countries be able to travel over and compete?

Updating to keep this up at the top section so people can see it. Taping will happen soon but no airdate confirmed yet. Competition is strictly for Sweden only. It's a test market to expand Ninja Warrior Europe. They are trying to build a portfolio so other countries who are still on the fence can see what they can bring to their own countries.

Jason Huewe (from Central California Ninja Warrior Training Course) mentioned on FB that he was hired to go design and build obstacles in Europe. I wonder if this is what he's doing.

For those curious, Miska was there. No word on if he competed yet.

I was in the audience all four days of taping. The obstacles looked very similar to the ones used in ANW. Only very few people in Sweden know of Sasuke/Ninja Warrior at all, so I was amazed to find out that they were doing a Swedish Ninja Warrior production. The first three days the weather was decent, but the final day (night) was very rainy and chilly; we were like ten people left in the audience when Sunday night turned into Monday morning Attachment DeletedAbove a shot at the first part of the course on the night of the finals showing the unstable bridge and salmon ladder (regular). Here's the second part with the three walls, beyond those are the floating boards. Attachment DeletedIn general, the Swedish contestants did a lot better than I expected since very few of them would have had a chance to do obstacle-specific training.

Thanks for the report! Would you be able to give us a bit more in terms of overall results? How the competition was structured? How many people per stage? that sort of thing? Feel free to use the Spoiler tags. I've love to hear how they structured this.

Sure! I can start off with some spoiler-free info:
If I understood correctly, they started off with 120 contestants on a rather simple course with six obstacles (more info on the obstacles later). 60 of the fastest, regardless if they cleared the course or not, would then move onto an extended course with nine obstacles. This was very much in line with how ANW is set up with regional qualifiers and finals. 25 of the fastest from the extended course would then move on to the final. The final was shot on a single night, the qualifiers on three consecutive days. The first stage of the final was similar to the extended course in the qualifying round, except that the level of difficulty was increased by increasing distances or other modifications. No time limit, though. If you cleared this stage, you would move on to the second stage where there was a time limit of 60 seconds and then the third stage (which was much shorter than in Sasuke or ANW). The fourth stage was the rope climb up the tower. The original 120 were selected based on a video application and in a second step physical challenges like a certain number of toes-through-rings and pull-ups. After that, there were interviews and more physical tests.
