This is a placeholder thread for all ratings discussion. This is NOT a competition discussion thread. This is only a thread for ratings for NBC versions of the show week to week. No discussion of content of the show format will be tolerated. We have weekly threads for those discussions and please keep all of that there. I'll post the fast affiliate number when they arrive later this afternoon. Just note that the final adjusted numbers won't be until tomorrow. Okay some numbers are coming in. Just like last year I'll keep the first page updated and adjusted as the numbers come in. As a reminder we get "fast numbers" for network first.. then weekend cable numbers (usually just Futon Critic) and then adjusted network a day later (usually by Zap it). So far the articles I found for NBC's coverage Monday night: Detailed by Night RankingDetailed HourlyMore articles: Head to headRatings Chart (for some reason no chat for this week - just a synopsis - possibly because of the holiday) FINAL NUMBERS (Adjustments made - This week 1 hour special was adjusted down in viewers and rating. 2 hour premiere was adjusted up in ratings and share but adjusted down in viewers. ________________________________________________________ Cable number comparisons - Ratings winner of the night: NBA Playoffs: Pacers at Heat - ESPN 7.038 million viewers, #1; 3.560 million adults 18-49 ( 2.80 rating), #1 Synopsis: Drop from last year but the numbers were tight.. and ugly. Cable kicked it's a** this year again showing network television is not getting the previous viewers it used to. Even on a holiday. Women (who inexplicably are not the key demo) dominate network television watching and the rest of the shows are split with Men going to cable.

Thanks! However, I don't post network spin press releases. They differ greatly from the full numbers. Press releases from all stations will only focus on 1 aspect (usually isolated numbers even per half hour) to make it look to their favor. All stations do this. So as a result I only concentrate on the full picture as that is the correct information. Edit: Tuesday's Esquire numbers are in. I wanted to compare from last year's G4 numbers especially since Esquire is the newer network. Tuesday cableInteresting numbers. American Ninja Warrior (8:00, 120 Minutes)* - Esquire 0.242 million viewers, #44; 0.114 million adults 18-49 (0.09 rating), #43 [EDITOR'S NOTE: * denotes individual program numbers were not available so the network's primetime average is listed] So they had less people watching but had a higher rating. So Esquire got a 0.09 on a repeat of ANW that aired the night before trippling G4's previous record. They still ended up in 43rd place overall. Will be interesting to monitor this week to week. I'll place that under the NBC numbers weekly if they break the top 100 list. Edit again: Seems these new charts promises to be updated throughout the summer season to see how well the NBC shows are doing and how everything overall is (for Monday, May 26, 2014). This is a new page so I'll incorporate that in my weekly update to see how they are updated (and when they update).

There was a note though regarding cable and ANW. (NBC was preempted in Cleveland for MLB coverage. Expect adjustments for American Ninja Warrior. ) Synopsis: Interesting week. Bachelorette and 24 both beat ANW during the 9pm hour. ANW stood alone at the top at 10PM. Moving the time to 9-11 this year is serving them better. 8pm they couldn't win last year. For a glorious half hour NBC held both the key demo (just men) and ranking once Bachelorette and 24 went off the air. MUCH better than last week. Still not matching the previous year's numbers but still a solid improvement on their 2nd week.

Unless my memory has completely failed me, there were 0 episodes of ANW5 that broke 5 million viewers (the penultimate episode was the closest with 4.9x million viewers, then Monday Night Football started and the finale was down considerably). I might be wrong, of course, but I'm curious to know where your "still not matching previous year's numbers" line comes from.

Ratings that are sent to the advertisers look at that number (and the key demo - where the male demographic which is deemed the most difficult to attract, especially in the face of professional sports also airing at that time). These are 2013's ANW's numbers and 2012's. ANW3 used to break 6 million viewers and consistently broke 2.0 in the ratings. This is what I'm referring to and what the charts Year to date comparisons are talking about. Make no mistake they are still hanging in considering how badly Network TV is losing to Cable in the overall ratings picture.

The key demo is men and women ages 18-49. It would be foolish of the advertisers to set their rates disregarding women.

However Bachelorette destroys those numbers (even though I reaaaaally hate reality shows LOL). This week 24 and Bachelorette split the demo and ANW got the 10PM when the other 2 shows went off air. Still is good considering what was on cable. I'll get the Monday cable numbers to compare tomorrow. And Esquire's numbers on Wednesday. NBC has to be happy though, Esquire pulled triple the ratings from the old G4 days.

I have no idea how shows like the Bachelorette are so popular, yet Arrested Development gets low ratings and eventually canceled. I know ANW is viewed as a summer show, but I've been wondering, with the ratings it gets, if NBC would ever be willing to try two cycles. NBC was airing Hollywood Game Night on Thursdays during the spring as a show whose low cost outweighed its terrible ratings. I would bet that ANW would do better than Hollywood Game Night, and even though ANWs ratings would probably be low, it is also much cheaper to produce in comparison to the sitcoms or dramas it would take the place of. I could see ANW being a good utility player, where NBC films a season and then plugs it into the lineup in the Spring in place of a show that has tanked, kind of a stop-gap measure.

Disclaimer: this is third-reference sources, as I heard it from a guy in Dallas that claimed to hear it from a guy that works on the show, but given sufficient ratings, they'd consider a twice-a-year schedule. Don't remember who it was that said it, who it was in production he talked to, or what would constitute "sufficient ratings" (or if it's even legit, but both casting and production did come by the walk-on line and talk to us both as a group and a few individually both of the days before filming, so there's a better than zero chance). I'm staying cautiously optimistic.

I'm staying cautiously optimistic. IMO the only way that could work (given already the ratings over the past 12 months), they'd have to do the original show (ANW) and expand the Special (where Japan vs. USA rated higher than all of ANW5). If they just break apart the qualies one part of the year and then finals another part of the year.. that.. would not be good for ratings. Unless they said TWO events like ANW7 and then ANW8 (spring/fall). THAT could work and tightening up the schedule having a bi-annual event with the overseas specials thrown between them to bookend the ANW competitions.

K Final adjustments for Monday were done but ANW was not changed. Everything else went up. My GOD that was a tight race at the top. Seems cable preempted something so everyone either turned off TV (Because sports won) or broke off and watched network depending on their demographic because literally every show could mark a win (rating/share/viewers). Reading the spin press releases they all claimed victory.

(American Ninja Warrior was adjusted down) Combined cable numbers (They do by viewers on this chart): Synopsis: ANW was actually 5th during the night (combined cable) and lower than last week on ratings. Another weak week for Network (which is a common thread) but all in all they are hanging in. Another week where ANW scored very low in viewers but it didn't hurt them as everyone who did watch the other shows were not males or in the key demo that network is enamored with (and they wonder why they are failing miserably and going broke.. LOL). Either way solid week even if the numbers overall are going down. Esquire for the 2nd straight week didn't break top 100. Officially they are now worse than G4 (and I didn't think that was possible). As a comparison, G4 was always listed as last or near last in the top 100 and the premiere on Esquire was in the top 100.. but they haven't the past 2 weeks.

If you don't mind I'll do the ratings in the format that includes all the results not just the isolated wins.

If you don't mind I'll do the ratings in the format that includes all the results not just the isolated wins. I chimed in, as with last week, because the ratings had been out for awhile and hadn't been posted yet. If you want to be the one who posts ratings, though, that's fine with me.
