It has always confused me as to why we determine speed records nominally, as in how many seconds are left remaining. Instead of doing it nominally, why don't we calculate it base off percentage of time left or time used? Just my two pennies on the subject. It's always confused me. Your thoughts?

Probably due to the vastly changing time limits... I mean for example take Stage 2, used to have 50 seconds early on, someone could hear the buzzer but would count as faster than Levi having 38 seconds in 20 with a 90 second time limit, just not a fair comparison like time remaining

Sorry to bring this topic back up, but I just wanted to mention something. Bigblind brings up an interesting point in my opinion. Though I wouldn't go by time used because of what Rider said. Though percentage of time left would make more sense than anything else.
Think about it, they give you a time limit on a stage to show the maximum amount of time you should be able to complete the stage. Now these times are not always accurate, but nonetheless, a percentage can give you a more accurate calculation of speed on a stage over various stages than just using time left. There's no way someone is going to be able to complete a stage 2 with 50 second time time limit, and beat it in 38 seconds, like levi did in 20. So to compare a percentage seems the best option.
Now I know, it's not the most precise way of measuring speed across different stages in the history of Sasuke, because we all know some time limits were way more lenient then others. But the same error we would get in percentage, we would get in time left.

Sorry I have to bump but that sounds like a very good idea but I couldn't do that in a million years, I'm crap at that type of maths
