Spoiler >Ninja Warrior >Points wut...
That makes no sense... and what a surprise, home team won in a game no one understood the rules of. I'd guess points were based on obstacles cleared and then a bonus for time remaining but if it was confusing that can't be right, not to mention stage 3 having no time (Assuming Japan got that round if Yuuji, Ryo and Kanno were the reps (although really due to obstacles picked they were the probably the best reps anyways... Asa might have trouble on the Warped Wall that's a foot higher than the (usable part of the) Soritatsu Kabe and Shingo's new enemy the Spin Bridge, not to mention a harder version of his old foe the Balance Tank) So are you giving hints of the Japanese competitors' results? I wanna know each one's individual result in USA vs Japan!

It sounds like the "results" don't really matter as far as the US vs Japan thing goes. I'm more interested in seeing them do that actual run. I don't really care much for the whole made up US vs Japan theme.

Double posting here and on the ANW5 thread.
1st and foremost. I will personally report you if you start to pester people who had 1st hand knowledge or had people share that knowledge (including myself) for harassment. This goes for all the new guys who seem to forget what courtesy is. There is a strict NDA that if it goes back to where it came from there's consequences for that person who actually took the time to put themself at risk for YOUR curiosity. If you can't handle the information that's on this board and feel you are entitled to more then you need a vacation from this board. PERIOD. I'm hearing reports that multiple people are getting PMS.. KNOCK IT OFF.
Still sorting out the details and will work on a condensed report for SMF.

You really had to wait for the right moment to talk to them. The TBS handlers had them on an ultra-short leash, and chased/blocked anyone who attempted to come talk to them (even competitors, including those of us that they knew by name)

For goodness sakes, they should have let you guys say hi and thanks for coming and stuff! You guys shouldn't get treated like this. This is my problem with ANW. On TV it looks amazing, but when filming, it's a load of controversy and bullsh!t. End of rant.

K most of the information I got was from Day 3 (which is the Japan vs USA match). If anyone who was there sees anything I wrote that was incorrect please send me a message PRIVATELY and I'll amend it. (This is only those who can legitimately correct me on this.. not people fishing for more information.. who don't want their cover blown). Obviously all of this is spoilers so don't b**** if your experience was destroyed because you read a spoiler in a spoiler thread... Spoiler Okay I'll start off with the Lineup. For Japan we know it was All-Star Shingo Yamamoto with New Generation (Shin Sedai) Yuuji Urushihara, Ryo Matachi, Hitoshi Kanno and Kazuma Asa. For the USA they had top 5 + 3 alternates (going by order of who made it to the 3rd stage the previous night) Paul Kasemir, Brent Steffensen, A new guy named Brian Arnold, James McGrath and Travis Rosen. Alts were David Campbell, Young Flip Rodriguez and (I think) Drew Dreschel (don't quote me on that) Since there was money on the line and no one was hurt no one from the top group gave up their spots so David, Flip, and Drew did not compete on Sunday. The Final format was a 3 vs 3 throughout 4 stages. Winner of each stage had a prize (not sure.. I think I heard $1000 but it wasn't really clear to the audience) Overall winning team was given a huge silver trophy. Notes are kinda all over the place and not complete so bear with me. Most of the focus was on the Japanese competitors for this report.
Stage 1 They seem to be running in no particular order (or country origin). I don't know which of the 5 Americans ran in stage 1. Japanese competitors used were Asa, Shingo and Kanno in that order. Asa was injured (noted as a fail obviously) Shingo went down as well in Stage 1 Kanno cleared stage 1 USA wins stage 1. Notes: Asa's face slammed into the big wheel thing early on in stage one and he had been holding his face in pain afterwards and had his leg severely strapped all night and was visibly limping, they made them run from place to place!
Stage 2 (Again no idea who ran for the USA) Ryo was first Japanese runner, fell on salmon ladder. Yuiji second Japanese runner. Also fell on salmon ladder. I don't have anymore results for stage 2 USA won this one as well though. Unconfirmed reports that James McGrath won the cash prize ($1000 maybe - not sure on that) for Stage 2.
Stage 3 (seems 4 were used from each country) Shingo first up. Down at hanging doors (3rd obstacle) Brent down on upside down rock climb (ascending climb?) Paul Kasemir down on Flying bar (Last obstacle) Kanno down on the Cliffhanger Ryo down on Flying Bar (Last obstacle) Brian down on Flying Bar (last obstacle)? (Trying to figure out if he repeated the same result or if this is a double report from the night before) Travis Rosen down on hanging boards/doors Yuuji fell in almost the exact same place immediately afterwards (Handing boards/doors)
USA wins stage 3. Slight controversy simply because no one really understood how the points were tallied. Paul Kasemir and a Ryo Matachi were tied as to where the got to on the course, so it came down to time.. yes.. on an untimed stage 3... Paul won by fractions of a second making him the "winner" and he got a different trophy and money. Either way the final results were USA 3 Japan 0 Because the Final was only to be used in an event of a points tie, it was not used this time since USA won on points. The final was not used at all during ANW5. USA were awarded the silver trophy.
Overall the Japanese were confined away from everyone. Handlers were pretty much nazies and kept everyone away from them causing a lot of frustrated fans not being able to greet them. Crowd however gave them a huge ovation whenever their names were called. it was obvious they were welcomed by the fans regardless how much of a$$hats the handlers were.

I'm so confused and this point system thing is weird....So the American 5 that competed were the top 5 finishes from the finals? So I assume this happened after all the americans ran the course?
Will this be shown separately after the finals air on TV?

This was on Sunday. ANW5 finished Saturday (they did day 1 on Friday and finished on Saturday). So on Sunday this was on the menu. It was actually Best of 5 from what I heard but since basically you win at 3 they did up to 3 people and only did that until about the 3rd stage where more ran. I'm still confused on the points personally.. but whatever LOL
As for TV I'm led to believe this will be definitely on TBS. No idea if NBC will air this or when they will if they actually do. I am assuming yes simply because Matt Iseman was there commentating and posing with the trophy and congratulating USA and Japan at the end for the competition.

Were there any commercials that showed the USA vs. Japan finals format? My wife had read the forum for a while but didn't want to see results so she stopped. She insists she didn't read the Vegas format on here and it must have been a commercial.

No, they're keeping it top secret until most likely the end of the last show, also no way they'd have a add for that and not the finals

Let us know if you do see more information on that. I'd watch it P.S. Additional details/results anonymously: Spoiler a Japanese competitor went out on the JS and we know Asa got injured on the Giant Cycle and Kanno cleared so I guess that means Shingo failed the Jumping Spider.

I haven't watched ANW5, but it seems like people are angry about the Jumping Spider just because it took out good competitors. Maybe it was too hard but many people cleared it so there should be no excuses for those who failed. Beat what's in front of you.
