Oh agreed I just always get frustrated with the "name the all-star game" because I wouldn't have Yamada in the mix.. LMAO But if you go by TBS' criteria you wonder why he is the #1 Allstar in their book.. /shudder.. LMAO Personally I don't even think of people being called Allstars until their 4-5th time.. that way you can see if they have consistency. So that would exclude any of the ANC crowd for a while. TBS love picking on Yamada though...his life is a soap opera for pete's sake. Anyways, IMO you have to have a minimum of 5 Sasuke appearances to be considered a top competitor and getting to the 3rd stage is a must. Actually, you need to be getting to the 2nd and 3rd stage on a regular basis although the new course is tougher than in the past. Guys like Levi, Brian O, Lee En Zhi, Miyazaki etc. still have a lot to prove before they can be deemed serious contenders.

Definately agreed on that account lars!
With deadline now further out we still have a while to go before we hear any confirmations about invites and crap. Checking blogs diligently and seeing if anything changes. I'm sure Ube is checking his sources as well. Yell ya'll if you hear anything!

As I said before, part of the appeal of the All-Stars is that they're just regular people who do so well, so consistently. That's why Kosugi, Iketani and Nakata were never All-Stars. IMO this would count out people such as Nagasaki, Miyazaki, Levi, etc, because they're all professional athletes.
EDIT: The only thing counting against Koji Yamada is his attendance.

Before Arsenette has a seizure, let's change "all-stars" to "top competitors." Sound better? Again, only TBS chose its all-stars and although their attendance and dedication is great, the records are not in some cases. IMO, you are a top competitor if you consistently compete AND get to the 3rd stage or further (although it's more difficult now). I think if at least 50-60% of your runs are to the 3rd stage, then that's pretty damn good.
If we are talking Sasuke's top competitors here, then I would definitely include Shunsuke Nagasaki, Koji Yamada, Daisuke Nakata, Naoki Iketani, Jordan Jovtchev, Kane Kosugi and Hiroyuki Asaoka on that list. Kongo and Kobayashi would get honourable mentions...
