Hoping for late May since my Spring Quarter ends early June, that way I can catch up quicker without spoiling myself...maybe.

Confirmed with Matt that he is indeed doing all 3 cities and the final with Jonny Mosley this year. Wasn't sure if Mosley was only doing certain parts but that's the official team this year for the entire thing.

Well... Lets hope this new guy actually has a personality, because the announcers we've had for the past couple ANW... ehhhh not so much...

Well... Lets hope this new guy actually has a personality, because the announcers we've had for the past couple ANW... ehhhh not so much... I've only known him from his Olympic days as a moguls Olympic Champion. I've also seen him commentate on other sports as well as recent as last year (swimming I think) and he's not bad. I noticed earlier in the thread that he did MTV stuff but that was a few years back. Personally I think he's getting better but just like any commentator he might not be everyone's cup of tea. Commentating in general is difficult. Hope at least he's educated on the subject.. nothing annoys people more than commenting on something you have no idea wtf you are watching. Matt at least has history behind him now.

Well, as long as he's not a talking coat rack like our ANW commentators of past that should be good. Let's just hope he's a Ninja Warrior fan and he has a good research team... Wait... G4... Sasuke fact checking... Welp, he's screwed...

We get a look at the Spinning Log (which this video called Balance Bridge) in action, just not by anyone competing. Better look at Quad Steps, Log Grip and Warped Wall too.

The fact that Brandon competed the quad steps (and is a cameraguy and editor) has banned anyone from failing the quad steps with dignity

To be fair, they didn't have a clock to worry about. He also did the most beneficial method that works for those. I don't think being a cameraguy/editor means you have no sense of athletic ability. He beat every obstacle he went up against (that we saw in this vid anyway).
Now the reason I edited this post:
I remember hearing about during last ANW that if multiple people beat all four stages, the one who beat the final the quickest wins the prize. Despite my personal opinion of it, does anyone know if that's the case again? I mean, it probably is too soon to ask, just wondering.

Well the steps definitely look better made this year compared to ANW3, hell, wasn't their last video where the source of this pic came from?

I don't know how Johnny Moseley is as a commentator.
I saw him come back and host the MTV "The Challenge: Battle Of The Exes Aftershow" last night and he was as laid back as I remembered him.
The show is scheduled to repeat tonight, Thursday, March 8, on MTV at 08:30 PM and late-night 1:30 AM Eastern Time, so you can all judge his abilities for yourselves.

I thought for some reason that the log would spin on its own from a motor or something, but in the video it seems to just rotate based on how you impact it. I would hate to go out on that so early!

Yeah, it seems to be based off of Kunoichi/Women of Ninja Warrior's Spinning Log, which did the same, but the cylinder itself was solid.

That's a good thing, that's how the real obstacle was designed, it was stage 2 in Kunoichi and was just like that... although I suppose I should mention the original sasuke obstacle however that was a bit different

Personality? Need not worry. Holy crap! That's Jonny Mosley?! Back in the old days, X-Play used to make fun of this scene from the game many times. And now he's doing commentary for G4. I feel like we've gone full circle. Somehow.

I only watched the NBC special so it's hard to judge but the difference in commentating for the Japanese version and the US version is that all of the Japanese announcers are, well, announcers. They had to get into the TBS announcer training program (all the main Japanese channels have their own) and work their way up to doing something like SASUKE. Almost all had done some sports announcing in the past.
Ichiro Furutachi is not from the TBS program because he's older but he made his bones doing World Pro Wrestling (the New Japan Pro Wrestling weekly TV show).
Using professional and/or experienced announcers makes a big difference, I think.

One thing at least is that we won't hear "Half a million dollar K-Swiss endorsement deal" every 10 seconds.. so "Half a million dollars" is about what we will hear.. every 10 seconds.. LOL

Don't act surprised, remember before k-swiss got on board they had the quarter of a million dollars for ANW2
