Friggin' Awesome news Ube! Thanks! Exciting news! Looks like a September air date after all? We don't know that. Historically it has been 1-2 weeks after taping.. but the last couple have thrown it into a loop. P.S. This HAS to be the first time they actually TELL you when they are taping.. Updated mine: ramblingrican.blogspot.com/2011/05/sasuke-27-officially-announced.htmlThanks again Ube!

Awesome news, thanks Ube!
Btw, do they say that there are trials in June or just the preliminary period that they are accepting applications?

They state that there will be some kind of audition/vetting process at the bottom of the post. Presumably that refers to the preliminary date in June.
Please note that June/July are the planned dates. Nothing is absolutely concrete yet.

Yeah that's why I said timeframe on my blog. Lord knows we've had taping dates change up to the week BEFORE the event..
Didn't that one blog before talk about a trials being possibly set up? They had July for that one though. Guess that's still an ongoing process.

Hey everyone, I'm trying to find out when in June the prelims are taking place in Japan because I'm moving to Tokyo on the 15th of June and I would love to try out for them (especially if Sasuke 27 is going to be the last, I didn't know about that T.T).
If they are after the 15th then I can hopefully send a letter from the UK with my Tokyo address written inside, explain that I will actually be in Japan during the prelims. I know it's asking a lot for people to pin down exact dates but I wanted to ask just on the off-chance that anyone has heard anything.
Thanks a lot!

We will not know the date as it doesn't pertain to us and they refuse to let us know what happens in Japan. The best thing to do is just email Monster 9 directly as they will be the ones handling your application directly.

Yeah from reading other posts here I got the feeling they were quite close-lipped about details from Japan. I'll try emailing them directly then, as you say. Thanks anyway!

Hey someone on youtube got a message saying that SASUKE was not over after 27. The message came directly from M9 and I was lucky enough to have the message forwarded to me. Google translate is good but not really clear. Can anyone hear offer a more accurate translation?

Apply for 28!!! I so hope its true! Do they still do 2 a year? On average they do, but (and I get my years mixed up) they had like 3 in 2009. Though, this year so far 27 will probably be the only one.

Malaysia is hinting to a winter one but unsure at this moment if it's tied to Sasuke or not. Monster 9 though doesn't control it's own destiny with Sasuke sadly. This has to come from TBS still. They will continue to be positive regardless of what happens. This happened during a few shows of M9 airing on other networks. We'll have to wait and see. Given how close TBS was working with Malaysia though one would think the winter one is a good indication on how far they want to go. Thanks for the update!

Glad to see that the future of SASUKE is not as bleak as we all thought. It would be nice to see some improvements leading up to and during SASUKE 27, but perhaps I'm asking too much. Just having another competition is enough I suppose.

From what I can make out of the message as posted:
They are still saying no to anyone who lives overseas. However, if you come to Japan for study (and presumably work) and have an address (i.e. are living) in Japan, you can apply (through M9/TBS).
However, the application process (specifically) for SASUKE 27 started in May and the selections will be made in June so please apply for the next SASUKE.
They don't give any specifics about a next show outside of telling the person to apply again in the future.
It's quite fuzzy. In theory, someone could write in and say that they want to apply for SASUKE 1,000,005. It's not like M9/TBS are going to send it back to the person because once you send your application to them whatever is inside becomes their property.

That hasn't changed though has it Ube? Seems they have been at least consistent with the Japan residents/students/workers during the application process. And agreed with the wait and see since TBS holds the key to this whole thing and they haven't said jack. That said, hoping the news from Malaysia is holding true. We'll have to wait and see and pray for good 27 ratings.
