When watching Sasuke 19, the announcer said that Takahashi had made it to the 3rd stage his previous 3 attempts (i.e. 7, 16, 18), so that implies that the two other times he participated in were prior to 7.

u can see him during the first stage, i think during takeda and morgans run. He's the guy dressed like nagano I'll watch it again, but I don't remember seeing him. And if he were there but TBS didn't show his run, how would anyone know he what obstacle he failed? I really have to question some of the stuff on the wiki.

Well, at least we know he was there. Why TBS would cut his run completely after he made the fnal stage in #12 and 3rd stage in #14 is beyond me. Hope they get their act together for #22. What's next?- cutting Nagano's run?

Even Nagano knows he's not untouchable.. remember Kosugi brothers. All you need to do is piss them off once.. (meaning Monster 9) and they will cut you off without blinking. That said.. He must have had a poor showing or chose to go another direction if they thought he was not going to go further in the tournament from that point on. Sometimes hard to figure out their thought pattern on editing.

Case in point: Takuya Kawahara in 19. One of only four guys to clear the Flying Chute and they don't show his run except the final seconds where he times out.

But how can you compare him with some other guys who have had success in the past? Asaoka made it to the Final Stage and to the 3rd stage 3 other times and he was cut in 15. Takahashi made the 3rd stage 3 times in a row and Kobayashi made the 3rd stage twice. Okuyama and Washimi at least made the 2nd stage. TBS/Monster9 should show these competitors and cut the ridiculous ons who have zero chance and are there purely as comedic relief.

I can compare them because even Makoto "Mr. Grand Champion regularly making the first stage his personal b****" Nagano didn't clear the Flying Chute. Four people clear it and only two of them are able to clear before timing up. I don't know about you, but I'd rather see a guy who comes close and doesn't make it than someone who was one of the forty plus who crashed on the Jumping Spider (Takahashi).
And I would think TBS would love to play up the exciting Newcomer making a miraculous run thing. They did it with Levi (although, granted, he DID clear).
As for Shinji, I don't know why they never show him, but if, perhaps, one of the bigwigs in charge of editing the show doesn't like him, what can any of us do about it?

Thanks scnoi for catching a shot of Asaoka at #15. That was Kobayashi's wife in the picture and he was definitely #91 as the first digit on his pants is a '9' and it showed all of the other competitors in the 90s. Chalk up another victory! ;D

Asaoka seriously changed his look after 14. I mean when did he grow his hair out and start competing in drag.. OH! He's in the background!
