The folks who beat it were able to keep their weight in the center (staying close does help). Once you lose that, and your body goes to one side or the other, centrifugal force kicks in, you rotate faster, and you're down.

I'm more worried about the impact on ratings. Personally I thought this tourney was fine Though the snail (that's what I call it LOL) seemed to be a bit too unpredictable and seemed to be faster in the beginning than in the end. I did hear they had a bunch of tech problems with it. I'd rather someone fail an obstacle outright than introduce too much "luck" in it. I think that's why I'm on the fence. Still.. we have a Sasuke so I should be happy. I agree it looked glitchy, and they should definitely reduce the angle so they're not head-over-heals. The thing also seemed to do an extra 1/4 turn for the last 10 or so competitors. I do believe it was adjusted midway through the comp though. That explains the extra 1/4 turn.

Even tougher than I was expecting. And not only did it take out competitors there, but the dizziness after getting off of it certainly didn't help those who failed the Jumping Spider and messed up their concentration.
Don't get me wrong, I like the obstacle idea, I just hate how rough it was, even on the top competitors. Kongu, Kanno, Yamamoto, Miyazaki, and several others (poor Ishimaru was soooo close, perhaps that's one of the reasons why the extra 1/4 turn was added?).
Hopefully more people will figure out how to beat it for future tournaments...

I really liked it. It was deadly and unpredictable a bit like how the Rolling Log was when it was first introduced. I think it will stay and maybe be tweaked to be slighty easier or somehow rotate slower.

I liked it, it was enjoyable and anybody could fail it. It'd be damn fun to try and IMO gave better flips into the water than the Jump Hang.

I pretty much made my thoughts known about this obstacle. It's definitely the new Rolling Maruta/Log that's going to be a HUGE equalizer that's going to make almost everyone dread approaching it now.

It seems like it's definitely harder for taller people.
You need to control this obstacle. Ishikawa IMO had the best technique. It never looked like he was going to fail it.

How can you like something called Rolling Escargot - and they actually put the snail head on it too. My my my...
Looks like the you need to build and practice on it in order to pass it. It's one of those obstacles where you need the right technique and position to pass it. Strength has nothing todo with it as I don't think Naoto is stronger than Kongu!

Aahahahahaha though I do have to at least give M9/TBS credit. They are trying to keep changing the course.. remember ya'll just in Sasuke 25 complaining that something had to change? Not everything is perfect and honestly I don't believe it will survive to 27.. provided there is one.. but I applaud efforts to try something new.. even if it fails in execution. It keeps the competitors on their toes not knowing wtf is going to be on the course the next time.

Other than the seafood platter, I liked stage 1 and thought that results should have been better. The Giant Swing obstacle at the end was a piece of cake. I think that nerves and pressure (some created by TBS and some by the competitors themselves) got to some people.

Do we know if he was at 26? Because that video was up before the airing (Although I think that night time attempt is new). Or did the usual suspects training at his house tell him enough and help him build one?

iirc he's no longer applying but is always invited along with one of his many friends to attend as spectator. Hopefully he'll enter again but dunno if he will. Nice to see he still enjoys building obstacles and letting other train on them.. though this one scares the crap out of me! LOL

I think it will stay and maybe be tweaked to be slighty easier or somehow rotate slower. I really despise decisions like these, making deadly obstacles less deadly (so the people who failed them the previous tournament don't really get redemption by beating an easier version of it) Seriously, what are the designers afraid of when downgrading an obstacle instead of keeping it in its original, unpredictable form? classic example. Brett trying the JS in 20, and then Terek beating it in 22 when they both failed it in 19... WHEN IT WAS WAY HIGHER
