Yeah but... with the current format of not having a time limit, I'm not sure of what else they could've done. Simple: "Furthest the fastest" if you get 2 rungs up the lamon ladder that is further than the warped wall, and 4 rungs up is further than 3 and the ring is further than that. whoever was further before they failed...if 2 people got equally as far then it's who got to that point first. Yes but David, if it was purely based on who gets the furthest then couldn't someone just take their time on the stage and complete it at like... the 15 minute mark? That'd be bad. If that was the ruling and someone at ANW2 took 15 minutes BUT he touched the ring slider then he would've been in the top 15 competitors. It's cool that he beat the salmon ladder and all, but who wouldn't going at THAT pace?

Given the rules that were told to them that is how fast they were going.. most of them if I understand this correctly thought that David's rule was what was going on.. not what actually happened. So your theoretical scenario wouldn't have gone into play.

If I remember correctly, people did wait a good bit of time before attempting the jump up to the salmon ladder once they saw that they just had to get past there in order to make top 15 since so many people were failing it. A time limit does need to be put in on all try out formats and the original rules were going to have a count down timer as people completed the stage. The next person would have to finish under what the last person did, if not then they stayed in the hot seat. Here's hoping they fix this for the next one, and like David said, I'll be asking a lot of questions!
And yea I should have never been in the hot seat since I blew the tramp jump. I even told that to Alison when she interviewed me but I guess they didn't show that lol.

Well G4 did listen from last year in fixing some things so hopefully they pick the positive things and just fix the negative things. Again.. I enjoyed the Venice beach stuff .. a lot more than I want to give credit for.. LOL but it was the boot camp that needs tweaking in presentation format. Who knows.. maybe they will read all the suggestions and just do better next time. They did grow by leaps and bounds from last year!

I think there's actually a good chance of that happening. The executive producer was convinced everyone would love the reality show BS. Hopefully the complaints on the G4 forums will show them how wrong they were.
How hard is it to build three stages and take the top 10 people?

Well it just shows how much of an acquired taste a reality show really is. Honestly.. the majority of fans would like to see the venice beach competition just extended to the semi's and finals (meaning that TYPE of course). They proved in the boot camp that they CAN use real Sasuke inspired obstacles.. they just need to focus their attention away from the boot format. Let's see what happens.

Like I said... With the exceptions of the whole teams and the punishment system what they were doing for boot-camp seemed fine.. The editing?... Not so much...

Strat did a great post giving ideas on how to improve ANW3: forums.g4tv.com/showthread.php?t=161930Given that they actually did listen to us last year feel free to post positives and negatives of the viewing experience and give concrete suggestions as to how ANW3 can improve. Who knows.. they might listen again.

Thanks! Just trying to clear the numerous threads of different people posting only the bad stuff. Its good to at least let them know the good and the bad so they know what to keep / fix. I shot one of the G4 media people a message and told them about that topic and hopefully they will direct who ever works on the next ANW there to get some ideas on what needs to be done.

Cool I think one was done last year and one of you guys brought it to their attention. Seemed at the time they were appreciative so hopefully they will read it with eyes to fix it for next year. They are going to have a hard time this year since a lot of people are bypassing the Wednesday show entirely because of the format.

That's not fun to watch though, and it would shorten the episodes. I donno, I disagree, I love the boot camp. It adds variety to an otherwise repetitive show.

If that was the ruling and someone at ANW2 took 15 minutes BUT he touched the ring slider then he would've been in the top 15 competitors. It's cool that he beat the salmon ladder and all, but who wouldn't going at THAT pace? If someone were to take 15 minutes, then someone could come and only take 14 minutes and beat them. Time is on everyone's minds regardless because it's a timed competition. Plus you look like an idiot on national television. Going slower doesn't actually make most of this stuff easier anyway (going too fast can tire you out or cause mistakes, but that's different). If you can't do the Salmon Ladder in 40 seconds then you can't do it in 40 minutes! The longer you hang on the thing, the more tired you get.Try hanging from some monkey bars for a couple minutes and you'll see what I mean. Besides, who is a better person to send to Japan....someone who can rush through the easy obstacles but simply can't do the harder ones, or someone who can actually do the hard obstacles but takes their time a little? At least the slower guy has a chance of clearing the course if he hurries a bit, but the guy who simply can't do it is a guaranteed fail. What's better, going really fast and burning out halfway through or pacing yourself and clearing the course? And again remember that there are 29 other competitors and only 15 are moving on. If it was that easy to just go really slow and clear the salmon ladder, so everyone else can do that too, but just a little faster than you....so then we come back to speed and you have to go as fast as you can if you want a spot. This is what they did timing people to each obstacle, if people had failed the warped wall it would have been fastest to the end of the jumping bars. The problem was that they considered the trampoline all the way up the salmon ladder to the ring to be one obstacle, when really the trampoline to the bar should be an obstacle and then each rung up the ladder timed. It's really a flawless system.

LOL did you just say that Sasuke isn't fun to watch?!? hahaha GET OUT OF MY HOUSE! I know what you mean though. I'd LOVE to see a full on, full scale American Sasuke 4 stage course, but as something they want to stretch out into a TV series and create some drama and what not I get the reality show format....after watching an episode of survivor it could have been so much worse!!!! Actually the only real problem I had with the boot camp was the crappy food they made us eat and making us bake in the sun all day and constantly taking away our hats and sunglasses. ...and bossing us around and yelling at us while not telling us anything that is going on like were objects and not people. But yeah, as for as the competition side of the boot camp it was pretty decent, and fun to watch.

I was actually going to ask about that, What kind of food did they give you guys exactly? And were you guys allowed to take pictures and videos while you were there?

HELL NO.. heck.. they had to leave any recording devices before they left.. that should give you an idea.. LOL

Dude... They wouldn't let people talk about what it was.. You think they could bring capture devices?.. XD
BTW.. Missed the ending of the 3rd episode on wednesday.. So what exactly happened after they had to talk to the host after both of them fell off the rope climb?

What I mean David is, even if someone took 15 minutes and touched the ring slider, that person would've gone on.
I'm not saying take 15 minutes trying to do the salmon ladder or anything, but perhaps they took 2 minute breaks in-between each obstacle, and had enough in them to edge their way past the salmon ladder and pull something like Brian did.
Going by the "whoever gets the furthest moves on" ruling then that person would move on even if they took 15 minutes.
That's probably what G4 was thinking when they made their WW ruling.
Simply having a time limit would be better. If people don't reach the end before time runs out, they lose. If someone does hit the buzzer, it's whoever has the fastest time.

It'd be a bit silly. I know it DIDN'T happen but it very well COULD happen.

If you know time is a factor.. Why would you take 15 minutes?... And really if someone needed to take 15 minutes on the course... They wouldn't even be close to the top 30 anyways... No offense... but put some more thought before you post bada...
