Not sure if we ever confirmed 100% he was there or not, but is this him?

Wonder where he could have failed. Maybe Rope Ladder time up again?

Wonder where he could have failed. Maybe Rope Ladder time up again? This is a possibility, but I think this pic only confirms that he was there---not that he competed (though it's pretty likely). Oh, and LOL at Aoki. Everybody's smiling but him (probably takes up too much of his energy ).

Damn Aoki looks terrible.
Oh I didn't know Kawahara competed in this one. I do wonder how he did.

Well I found something else.
In a pic of that crowd shot taken after #64, he was still there. In a pic of that crowd shot taken after #73, he was not.
I know it was the same spot because Aoki and the 2 guys on each side of him were the same, the difference was those 2 comedians were gone (they both ran between the time of this pic and 73) and of Kawahara was gone.
Which means unless Kawahara was there to support those 2 guys (highly unlikely) he ran sometime in the high 60s or low-mid 70s.

The two comedians are: Degawa (with the towel around his neck), he went around #48. Next to him is Udo Suzuki who was #61, right before Akiyama.
Careful of crowd reaction pics, TBS is known to insert different ones. Heck half of the reaction shots for the single digit numbers were from SASUKE 22!

That might have been likely except for the fact Suzuki didn't compete in 22, I don't remember seeing him in any crowds and in TBS's mind, Comedians = Ratings

I was trying to illustrate the point that the reaction shot doesn't always follow what they are reacting to.

Guess what!!
Through some serious background study and screencaps by Scnoi and I, we were able to almost confirm for certain what one of everyone's favorite MM guys did!!
We are almost 100% sure that.....
#91 Takuya Kawahara timed out at the rope ladder. Here is how we know,
In the pic at the top of this thread, you can clearly see TK wearing a white jacket and heavy silver coat. When N. Iketani was standing at the start line, you can see TK in the crowd. When NI's run begins, you can see in the lower left corner a guy in a silver coat from where TK was standing moving towards the start line. When NI is about halfway passed the steps, you can see a guy taking off a silver coat and showing a white jacket. When NI is leaving the steps, on the very last camera show, you can BARELY see that the mystery man is wearing red pants.
Now for the result... When #84 Yuji Washimi got to the Tarzan Rope, it had not been used since #78 Jun Sato, and it was slightly damp. A little water dripped off but not much When #85 Koji Hashimoto got there, it was soaked. When he grabbed it, water splashed all over the place. (This also proves that #83 did not make the rope ladder) Moving onto #92 Lee Enchi's run. When he got the Tarzan Rope, it was so wet it splashed all over him and he even had to dry off before he swung to the rope ladder. We know that #86 failed the slider jump 87-90 failed the junidantobi, log grip, log grip, and soritatsu kabe. So the rope hadn't been used and should be dry from 6 competitors as it was before. However it was not, which meand it had to have been used by #91.

I reckon they gave him #91 because they thought he'd have it this time.....but old habits die hard.

It's kinda how Yamamoto went from 31 to 93 in 23. Kawahara went from 31 to 91. A real shame he didn't make it.
